Will Lady Gaga Design for Mugler?

Rumours are swirling that Lady Gaga is getting ready to break into fashion.  As in, actual fashion.  Not those Halloween costumes we find strangely compelling to look at.

Gaga looking surprisingly tame next to Mugler menswear (Paris Fall 2011)

Gaga directed the music for Nicola Formichetti's Mugler debut for menswear in Paris this week, and now some say it's "likely" she'll next have a hand in the women's show (though we're still waiting to hear what that actually involves).

This is not the first time Gaga's name has come up as a possible partner in design, with reports of a capsule collection with Alexander McQueen making news last year (turned out to be false).

We can imagine there's some truth to those rumours, but more importantly we ask you: would you want to see Lady Gaga as the next celeb designer?

@Ali - Nicola Formichetti himself is Gaga's stylist!

@Lauren - there is such a day. For many people, it's called Halloween ;)

Don't you wish just for a day you could wake up and dress like Lady Gaga? Just to see what it would be like?

This is the perfect line for Gaga. I don't think it would work for any other

I would totally want to see that. It would be freakishly cool. But is it really her that designs her outfits or some team of crazy talented stylists?

That's true mumaluv, Lady Gaga came out with headphones a while back and they aren't that much different from any other pair (just a little added bling). The only thing that makes them Gaga is her name attached to them.

It's a fine line because if she makes it too wearable, then what's the Gaga appeal? What makes her stand out? But if she stays true to her genre, then it'll have very little mainstream adoption.

She may wear these outrageous outfits as an alter ego to her true self... but that is the only thing she's famous for. Take her brashness away and she's just another pop star - one of many.

@Cathy - I agree, Mugler does seem to be the logical choice (as well as McQueen), so it'll be interesting to see what comes of this.

I agree with Cathy, if she can come up with some Gaga-inspired fashion I'd give it a try (or at least a look). Maybe a line of couture shoes, or dress-up jackets with pointy shoulders, or maybe a line of accessories - those things I would like to see.

She wouldn't last very long in Toronto right now. All the slush on the roads makes it really slippery, Gaga would be falling down all over the place!

Oh my...
I wonder what lady gaga does in the winter? I'm sure fishnets with granny panties and platforms aren't very feasible...

I'm not so sure -- sure she is a very daring fashion symbol but what she wears are costumes - part of the character of "Lady Gaga". Few regular women would want to emulate her style exactly so as long as her designs are wearable-Gaga then it might be really fun.

Plus Mugler would be a good fit for her.
