Would You Wear the Oversized Sweater as a Dress?

We’re all too familiar with the “sweater-dress,” but the newest trend takes it to the next level - the oversized baggy sweater as a dress!  Take a look at these celebrity fashion statements...

Throw on a striped, floral or funky-printed baggy sweater and pair it with your favourite tights, leggings or jeggings to stay warm. Here are some of our favourites:
Forever 21 Pointelle Colorblock Sweater, C$29.80
H&M Jumper, C$56

TopShop Knitted Chunky Stripe Jumper, US$80

TopShop Knitted Cocoon Jumper, US$90
French Connection Sydney Knits Beads, C$138

For your lower half, a basic legging or pair of tights will do...
Forever 21C$5.80, Forever 21C$6.80, Forever 21C$12.50, ZaraC$15.90

What do you think of this trend?  Will you wear the oversized sweater as a dress?

This is probably horrible of me to say, but I think that Lily Allen looks more than boxy. It adds extra weight which doesn't it make her thighs look larger? I don't know, I think she made a bit of a faux pas there.

I agree that Rihanna looks great! And on any slender girl this could look amazing! Not sure about other body types though - have to agree with Tamika A.

I like it and have already worn my big comfy sweater as a dress (with leggings under). If it's really short and you want to wear tights underneath, do what Lily Allen did and wear short shorts under (denim is cute) unless you're into exposing your undies to the streets....

Kind of love it...but obviously not for all body types. Even in the celeb snaps I think Rhi Rhi looks fab but Miss Olsen is just "okay" and Lily Allen looks a little more boxy than she probably intended. I say proceed with caution. The French Connection version I think would be pretty flattering on most since the v-neck should elongate....and it's black = slimming.

I would totally wear this. Anything cozy and comfy that is also cute gets my vote.

To be honest, I'm not thrilled about this trend. I would first and foremost feel quite exposed if I was wearing sheer tights or (horror) bare legs like Ashley Olsen (top pic). Secondly, I'd feel quite like a marshmallow with such a bulky top. Perhaps if it was cinched some at the waist or a bulky wrap-style sweater I'd like it better. Like this though - not for me!
