Would You Wear: The Transparent Lucite Clutch

Every season, there's an 'it' bag. Seen on the arm of every major player, it becomes the must-have item for any expert fashionista. It's the bag that has composed classy ladies turning into ravenous raccoons as they push other shoppers out of the way so they can get their hands on it. The 'it' bag of late is definitely the transparent, lucite clutch. Lucite is a huge overall trend for spring (check out our Spring Accessory Trend Guide), not only in purses but in shoes and jewelry, too.

When it comes to the clear purses though, I can't help but wonder: what do you put in it?

On an average day my purse is filled with about 60% junk (including candy wrappers, old pieces of paper, receipts, 10 pens and maybe some used tissue), 30% makeup (lipsticks, lip liners, lip glosses, lip stains and a concealer) and 10% actually useful items (wallet, phone, keys).

There is no way I'm carrying all that around for the world to see.

Also what happens when the crimson tides come in? Do you mind if the world knows what tampon brand you use?

It seems to me that the lucite clutch carries more problems than its worth. It looks fabulous on the arms of these gals because they have carefully curated their items. I'm not even sure where you'd carry one (aside from fashion week). But on the average girl? Umm.. not convinced. I like the look of the purse, I think it's cute, modern and different, but it's not at all practical.

For me, the answer is clear: it's a no-go. Pun very much intended.

Would you carry any of these lucite options?

1. NastyGal Eye Candy Tote (C$49.18)

2. Zara Neon Minaudiere (C$39.90)

3. New Look Clear Perspex Hard Box Clutch (UK$12.99)

4. Anthropologie Vintage Clear Lucite Clutch

What do you think of the transparent lucite clutch? Is it something you'd try out?

I like them, but like others said, it would make you a target for theft probably. My favorite is the Chanel one. Also this trend was popular when I was in 3rd grade-5th grade, lots of people had clear backpacks because it was cool xD.

Cute ...But I wouldn't want the items in my purse being that visible...I just watched a documentary about con artists/wallet thief's so this would make me to nervous. As Takoda mentioned about being a big target.

I think it's cute, it could work for ppl who are very organized. And if anything it would make you clean out your purse all the time

They look really cute, unique. But don't love the idea of advertising my things to the world...especially to pick pocket types.

I like their look, but I'd be afraid having everything in my bag visible would make me a target for muggings. So I wouldn't buy one.

I'm not organized enough either, and even if I was, as you point out the necessities of life like tampons and whatnot means that even the best organization would not spare every embarrassment. Also, I'm not totally sure I want every purse snatcher to see which brand of cell phone I carry and the exact location of my wallet so he can plan his pickpocketing strategy.

Hats off to the designers for always trying new things, but this is a fail for me.

I suppose having one of these would force me to keep my stuff organized so passerbys don't see me carrying around a ton of junk. The inside of my purse is simply horrendous right now.. I've got sketchbooks, lunch, wallet, makeup bag, perfume, electronics, random accessories, a painful amount of junk and paper. Perhaps I should invest in a lucite bag to stay organized! Hahaha.

It's definitely cute, but my purse is NEVER that organized - and god forbid someone sees it, Lol.
