Would You Wear: The Transparent Lucite Clutch

Every season, there's an 'it' bag. Seen on the arm of every major player, it becomes the must-have item for any expert fashionista. It's the bag that has composed classy ladies turning into ravenous raccoons as they push other shoppers out of the way so they can get their hands on it. The 'it' bag of late is definitely the transparent, lucite clutch. Lucite is a huge overall trend for spring (check out our Spring Accessory Trend Guide), not only in purses but in shoes and jewelry, too.

When it comes to the clear purses though, I can't help but wonder: what do you put in it?

On an average day my purse is filled with about 60% junk (including candy wrappers, old pieces of paper, receipts, 10 pens and maybe some used tissue), 30% makeup (lipsticks, lip liners, lip glosses, lip stains and a concealer) and 10% actually useful items (wallet, phone, keys).

There is no way I'm carrying all that around for the world to see.

Also what happens when the crimson tides come in? Do you mind if the world knows what tampon brand you use?

It seems to me that the lucite clutch carries more problems than its worth. It looks fabulous on the arms of these gals because they have carefully curated their items. I'm not even sure where you'd carry one (aside from fashion week). But on the average girl? Umm.. not convinced. I like the look of the purse, I think it's cute, modern and different, but it's not at all practical.

For me, the answer is clear: it's a no-go. Pun very much intended.

Would you carry any of these lucite options?

1. NastyGal Eye Candy Tote (C$49.18)

2. Zara Neon Minaudiere (C$39.90)

3. New Look Clear Perspex Hard Box Clutch (UK$12.99)

4. Anthropologie Vintage Clear Lucite Clutch

What do you think of the transparent lucite clutch? Is it something you'd try out?

Bringing 2 & 4 is okay if I am attending a party or going clubbing ... all the rest is probably for outfit pictures. Taking in in my daily activities ... not going to happen. My bag is filled with a lot junk ... not something I want the world to see.

Definately not, as I think what's inside my purse is private.

Never! They aren't cute, I need a strap (you really think I want to be carrying it around??) and I don't want people seeing what's inside of it.

Maybe as a makeup bag that sits inside my purse or at home but not as a clutch. Not for me. I mean how embarrassing would it be if you're talking to some really hot guy and he cant even look you in the eye because his eyes are glued to your clear chanel clutch that so conveniently puts your colourful tampons on display.... nuff said.
