Hack #5: Went a bit salt-happy with your soup? Add a peeled potato to your soup. It will absorb the excess salt. (via lifehackery.com

Hack #6: You're entertaining guests and offer them a glass of wine. Only...uh oh, no corkscrew is to be found. Well, go to your closet and dig out a shoe. Yup, that's right! Check out this video on how to open up a bottle of wine, with only your shoe!

If you get a bit heavy handed with sweet, sour, salty, bitter or spicy, add some of the opposite to correct it and help to cleanse your palette. For example if you add too much salt or spice, add some sugar. Too sweet add some spice or sour.

My boyfriend plays drums, so our go-to for opening wine when we can't find a cork screw is to just push the cork in with a drumstick!

Also when homemade cookies go stale, you can put them in a bag with a slice of white bread and they will soften :)

Nice tips Alex, I really like the shoe to open a wine bottle, that was really cool to watch. I'm sending that one to my dad, he loves his wine and I know he's never seen anything like this before.
