17 Sunscreens To Keep You Safe This Summer

Posted by Tasha | Thursday June 23, 20113 comments

I’ve watched enough episodes of Oprah and America’s Next Top Model (did I just put the Big O and Tyra in the same category?) to know that taking care of your skin is important. Come summertime, we all want to be golden goddess, but better to be an SPF babe instead. Sun damage not only increases your chances of developing skin cancer, it also breaks down the collagen leading to wrinkles and bags down the line. I’m all for looking gorgeous and feeling good, but fine lines are not a look I want to sport anytime soon. Don't forget to apply every two hours, or more often if you're sweating or playing sports—just because it says waterproof and sweatproof doesn't mean you're fully protected.

Beautygeeks has a breakdown of how sunscreen labels will be changing in the US next year, which will likely mean that Canadian labels will be changing, too. You can read it here.

How will you beat the UV rays this summer?

Thanks for writing this Tasha. I never know witch sunscreen I should buy
that's right for me and that doesn't cost a small fortune. I watch a
show that was talking about sunscreen the other day. They said you
should use as much sun screen that matches the size of an egg every time
you put it on your hole body. One bottle wouldn't even last a day at
the beach when you think about how many times you have to reapply it.
That can get pretty costly over the summer never mind that we should always use it.

I like the Ombrelle Spray Sport one because all you do is spray so it's really easy. However, I think it wastes a lot of product since you see a lot of the spray hit the air and only some goes onto your arm.
