How to Do the Water Marble Manicure

At ChickAdvisor HQ, we're suckers for new nail trends.  Whether we're sporting the trendiest solo colours of the season, going graphic with wild press-on prints, or trying our hand at the hot Half-Moon Mani, playing with Crayola-coloured bottles of polish turns us back into giggling preteens at a birthday party sleepover.

One trend we're hearing more about lately is the Water Marble Manicure.  This nail art, while effort-intensive, is surprisingly easy once you have the knack.

We found this great video tutorial on Refinery29:

So tell us: is the Water Marble Mani Hot or Not?

So you should wait for it to dry before removing the tape..?

I just did this a few nights ago and it turned out great and I found it super easy to do (though a bit messy). Here's mine: http://www.chickadvisor.com/chick/nik05/image/1/
I did yellow and pink together..the yellows a bit hard to see in the pictures because I did the marbling over already pink nails (I just randomly decided to try them out while I was bored and watching tv, so didn't really prep much! lol) It stands out a lot more in person though. I can't wait to try this out with some other colour combos!

They are a NOT for me. They look way too complicated. I like the way they look but would definitely not try them out for myself.

@shagtownlady - what a great tip! I'm definitely going to try with the lip balm.

I also love how this look is completely customizable to the colours you have on hand. So fun!

I tried this on two of my nails yesterday and was pretty impressed! It was a bit messy but easier to do than I thought, and I loooove how you get to play around with colours and marbling, etc!!
PS I used the lip balm on my skin instead of tape, and it really does just wipe away, even around your cuticles and the edge of the nail. There were a few spots that it stained my skin, but I just used a q-tip with polish remover to get rid of it.
