When I was a teen, "smart snacking" usually meant finding the secret potato chip stash and chowing down as quickly as possible before my three siblings noticed and claimed their share.

These days, now that I'm lacking a teen's hyper metabolism and being a mom of school-aged children, "smart snacking" means finding wholesome options that everyone in the family will enjoy. And if it has a chocolatey coating, even better (#bribery #notashamed).

The new Quaker Harvest Crunch Quinoa Bar (now available in Chocolate Nut Medley flavour) sounds like a mouthful: yup, a mouthful of sweet 'n salty, chewy 'n crispy snacking satisfaction. As the name implies, it features Quinoa as its main ingredient but is also chock-full of 100% Canadian oats, wheat, brown rice, almonds, sunflower seeds, and peanuts, all sitting pretty on a delicious milk chocolate base.

I'll have a new secret snack stash now: a bar in my handbag for work and a box in my minivan snack caddy when we're rushing to soccer practice or swimming lessons. I bet my kids won't even notice the healthy whole grains and appetite-satisfying nuts.
