Hello there! My name is Shannon and I’m a 3rd year co-op student from the University of Waterloo studying Fine Arts, Business, and Digital Arts Communication. After I finish my degree, I would ideally like to start working as a Curatorial Assistant in an art gallery. Other creative fields that interest me are UX design, product development, and digital marketing.  I’m doing my co-op here at ChickAdvisor and could not be more excited about! I’m loving that I get to flex some creative muscles in this position, and that I get to work with some awesome and driven individuals! Here are a few of my favourite things so you gals can get to know me a little better!

Painting


Over the past 3 years of being in studio for university, I’ve come to realize that my favourite artistic medium is acrylic paint. I love the qualities of the paint, the colours, the texture and the expressive possibilities. My favourite subject to paint is light, and different effects it can have on certain forms and textures depending on the time of day. Painting is a passion of mine, and also one of my favourite hobbies, so I wish to always keep up with it. 

Seinfeld 


Observational humor is just too good! So, basically I feel like I would have fit in perfectly with this group of nutty, paranoid, urban wackos – I could have been the 5th character.  This show is so entwined with my life that now that it’s impossible for me to not think about it when I see a marbled rye, buy hot soup, see Junior Mints in a convenience store, hear the name "Newman," get asked to "see the baby," get a red stain (dot) on my shirt, see a puffy shirt, or eat a muffin. 6 words to live by: “pop the top, dump the stump.” 

The City 


Ah, Toronto… I love the hustle and bustle of this beautiful city. I could not be happier about the fact that I get to live and work here for an awesome four months, and in the summer no less! After I graduate I can’t see myself being anywhere else.  Of course, the city has its flaws with all of the noises and smells… but past all that it possesses some charming, vibrant and exciting qualities. This place is special for sure. 

Chocolate Chip Cookies 


My ultimate weakness is a fresh-out-of-the-oven chocolate chip cookie. Totally the best comfort food and without a doubt one of my favourite things in the entire world. There's just nothing better. I recently tried Le Gourmand’s chocolate chip walnut cookie, just a few doors down from our office, and was thoroughly impressed... and by thoroughly impressed I mean I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I bought it 5 days ago. Mmm, mmm!

Daffodils


Daffodils are my favourite flower. I probably included them in this article because this is the time of year they pop up everywhere. I live next to a park that has a nice garden of them, it’s so wonderful. I like how pretty they are even though they have such an odd shape and they just seem happy.
