I'm still kind of on the fence about this product. I have tried it in three shades: a gold, a rose gold (pinkish hue) and the purple. I love the colour range, I'm really into metallics on eyes at the moment (which in itself sounds kind of silly, I realise) but I love the way a metallic catches the light. I especially love the gold shades, I found them exactly the right pigmentation. Not too strong but strong enough that you see colour. The purple is pretty too and because it isn't too intense, it's wearable. These shadows do crease. I have tried with and without a primer and it makes no difference, it creases and clumps around your lid crease and you end up with a build up of cream shadow. Adding a powder on top will help to set though and add more colour if you want a more dramatic look. Lasting power isn't great, I would say it lasts a good 3 hours maybe? The price isn't bad, but there are similar products out there with great pigment and staying power for a little bit more. Overall, a decent product but nothing to blow you away. -

This is a great mascara, and if it were just 5-10 dollars cheaper I would probably buy in bulk but the steep price makes it a 'special occasion' type of deal. That being said, it's great quality. It has a patented formula that separates lashes and lasts a long time. It creates that wide eyed, doll look with lift and separation. -
The hourglass shaped brush gives drama and volume to your lashes and the formula is great for length. Don't go overboard or you'll enter clump city, just a coat or two will do!

The CC label definitely threw me off, for the most part, CC's aren't that pigmented so I didn't have high hopes for this liquid rollerball concealer. I was actually pleasantly surprised. It really lives up to the 'visible lift' name. It is very brightening and conceals under eye circles without being thick or cakey. It makes you look alert and awake. I would definitely try this again. If it had a de-puffer action, it would be even better! -

Cover FX sent me a pressed mineral foundation that matches my exact shade to test out. I had heard of Cover FX before but had never tried anything from them. I am a total convert now. I think this is my favourite powder.
The pressed mineral foundation has been reformulated and has replaced their cult fave- Cover FX Powder FX Pressed Mineral Foundation. Cover FX uses finely ground mica not talc, eliminating that chalky look. the powder has a matte finish (it totally works to absorb oil) and buildable coverage, from a sheer finish to a fuller finish. I find the pigmentation of this powder really great. A little really goes a long way. I use it to seal off my foundation, blend my contouring and to give my skin a more matte complexion. It looks very natural though, never like a mask. I think that this will be my new go-to powder. At $35, it's not too bad either. Well worth it.

I had to chance to use this shampoo, conditioner and the curl perfection mousse at the #PanteneBeautifulHair bar pop up this past week end. Almost every single shampoo and conditioner in the Pantene line has been reformulated to include anti-copper technology to reduce oxidative damage. The EDDS molecule in the line neutralizes the copper found in all tap water which can lead to making your hair more porous. Having very curly hair, I have to wash my hair almost everyday because the curls fall flat and aren't their regular, bouncy self. But washing it so often turns to dryness, this totally solves this problem so count me as a fan. I used the Curl Perfection line specifically made for curly hair and I find that it's great for adding extra moisture. The mousse which you use after the shampoo and conditioner really defines your curls and adds extra dimension while taming flyaways. While I got to test these out free of charge, I think this will be on my to-buy list for a while. -

To any late teen or twentysomething: read this book. I was assigned it for a book club and wasn't so keen on it at first. It seemed clichéd, lame, out of touch but I was totally wrong. It's a refreshing wake up call with practical knowledge and info that I guarantee will motivate you.
Dr. Meg Jay (the author)'s message is this: thirty is not the new twenty. You need start thinking, planning now. Your twenties are a critical growth stage.
She not only delivers this message thoughtfully and with proof but she also gives you clues on how you can change this. The book is written is case study format and you'll definitely relate to any/all/one of the characters. It's written for the real world, your situation, in plain English. She knows how to speak to 20 year olds. The book touches on work, love and your brain and body. This book pretty much changed the way I am thinking about my 20's and I will recommend it to everyone I know.

I have about 1/4 of this bottle left now so I've been using it for about 2 months I would say. Maybe a little more. When I first started using it, I broke out really badly. I stopped for a little while, went back to it and used it again. This time, I decided to stagger my use, so I would use it every other day, then once a day and now I use it twice a day, occasionally skipping morning or night. Since then, my skin has really calmed down and I think I've begun to notice a big difference. I've noticed a lot less pigmentation (skintone is more even) and redness and my breakouts have decreased. I also notice that my skin texture is a lot less harsh, it's softer. I find that this, with a good cleanser, moisturize and spot treatment for pimples works best. It's a bit pricey at $30, also because of taxes and shipping but it is worth it. -

This is a favourite in the UK but its new to us here in US and Canada. It's a primer but it can also be worn on it's own. It's focus is on filling pores, not making your makeup last longer so be aware of that. I will say that my makeup, applied on top seemed to be really stuck there (if that makes sense), it doesn't slide off of get too greasy. This is a silicone primer like most. I've used it a few times and I have to say that it is true to its claim: it does do a good job of "blurring" the pores. It is compared to Benefit's POREfessional and I will say that they are similar. Benefit's is tinted, this is clear and Benefits has a thicker, creamier consistency, this is a slightly greasier thinner one. Also- huge price difference. Benefits will run you about 30, Smashbox 36, Maybelline Baby Skin is a steal at just over 10 bucks. There aren't many great drugstore primers out there so this is one to consider if you're looking for a cheaper alternative. I've read that if you have oily skin, this isn't one for you but having dry skin, as long as I used a good moisturizer with it, I was fine. I received this gratis from Maybelline. -

I received a package of these from Kiss Products to try out and though I was sceptical of how they would look and if they would work, I am happy to report that I am very impressed. I know that fake nails seem a little ridiculous and I am pretty sure the last time I tried press ons or glue ons was when I still wore a training bra but the new Kiss Gel Fantasy nails come in such cool colours and shades that I had to try them. They have a great shine to them as well making them look like you just came back from the salon. I tried the Painted Veil which is a really cool black background with blue and gold sparkle. The nail has a pointed, oval shape as well which is super trendy and makes your nails look awesome. They look quite natural as well as the shape and fit of the fake nail works with your natural one. At first, I didn't use enough glue and they started to fall off the day after but after the second application, with more glue they stayed on really well. I would say, on average, they will last you about a week. beware of the length though. The first kind I tried was way too long but I went back and tried the short length nails and they're perfect. They come with self adhesive tabs as well but I haven't tried them yet as I like the long lasting glue. Warning: these will damage your nails somewhat. So use them sparingly and not don't expect to come out with strong nails. They will come off on their own or you will have to soak them in acetone. -
