2013 Emmy Awards Red Carpet Recap (Plus, Comment to Win!)

Sunday night, tv's biggest stars hit the red carpet for the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards. Like every red-carpet event, all of our eyes were glued to the dresses. Without further ado, here are the ChickAdvisor picks for best, worst, and all the in-between.

Best Dressed

In our books, Sophia Vergara (left) and her famous curves, can really do no wrong. She stunned on the red carpet in a fitted mermaid-style dress by Vera Wang.

January Jones (right) looked beautiful in a pastel Givenchy design. The floral lace made for an ultra romantic look.

Trend #1 - Black and White

Aubrey Plaza, Christina Hendricks, Anna Gunn

Black and white looks are classic on the red carpet because they are effortlessly chic. Aubrey's dress might not be a favourite, but with a jeweled high-collar it's the most unique. Christina looks glamorously vamp, pairing her black dress with a deep red lip. Anna went with a sleek classic look, but angles and lace to give it a modern touch.

Trend #2 - Bold Blue

Allison Williams, Zooey Deschanel, Edie Falco

These ladies were all stand outs in bold blue. Allison's look is definitely our favourite from the "Girls" cast. Zooey walked the red-carpet in her usual vintage inspired style; her chrome blue dress is very old-Hollywood. Edie chose sophistication in the cut and the slit catches the eye.

Trend #3 - Cut-outs and Sheer

Kate Mara, Julianne Hough, Leslie Mann

Overall, we are impressed with all of these ladies for taking a risk and mixing things up. Kate's lacy look is daring, but we're still unsure of the whole side-boob trend. Also, Julianne's dress reminds us of something she would have worn during her days as a professional ballroom dancer. It would be stunning on the dance floor, but is it red-carpet worthy? Leslie's chevron print and halter make her dress ultra unique and edgy.

Trend #4 - Emerald

Anna Chlumsky, Mayim Bialik, Sarah Hyland

Anna is rocking her curvy figure with a great side embellishment on a sleek gown. With green garland accents, Mayim's dress looks like it could have been pulled from a costume closet. Sarah's choice of bright emerald with a lace overlay is stunningly demure and definitely a winner.

Trend #5 - Pale and Romantic

Emilia Clarke,Julie Bowen, Kerry Washington

Emilia looks whimsy and feminine, and Julie Bowen took risks in a ruffled mermaid style, but Kerry Washington owns this trend with over-the-top romantic floral appliqué.

Trend #6 - Purple and Oxblood

Alyson Hannigan, Heidi Klum, Kaley Cuoco

Wearing red on the red carpet can often be a fashion disaster, but oxblood and purple provide just enough difference in tone that it can be pulled off. Alyson's is a take on the mermaid gown and a beautiful royal purple. Heidi went a little too over the top with sequins and the neckline, making it a little bit busy for our taste. So Kaley's our winner - her sheer, corset style bodice is sure to be a style favourite.

Worst Dressed

Zosia Mamet, Lena Dunham

Unfortunately, the ladies of "Girls" failed to impress. Zosia's leather embellishment does her chest no favours and ends up making her look disproportionate. Lena Dunham's figure is swamped under too much volume. Her floral-print Prada dress is reminiscent of curtains or a bedspread, no?

Now it's your turn: who was the best dressed of the night? Comment below on your favourite dress by Sept 30th to win a beauty prize pack worth approx C$35.00
