How to Make Small Eyes Pop with Makeup

Unfortunately, we weren't all born with Anne Hathaway's doe eyed peepers. Some of us mere mortals have to fake it with a little help along the way. Small eyes can recede and get lost. But when you have beautiful eyes (and you all do), you want to bring them out and make them pop for all to see! Fortunately, there are tips, tricks and products for smaller eyes that can help you enhance your features.

Just take a look at how these celebs make the most of their features:

Taylor Swift is famous for her smoky cat eye makeup. When you have slender or smaller eyes like she does, a cat eye extends your eyes and also makes them the focal point of your face.

Kirsten Dunst also plays up her baby blues with an exaggerated smoky eye and a well groomed brow. Because she doesn't have big eyes, she brings out her best feature (her sultry smile) with a bold, red lip.

Kristen Bell uses highlighting and contouring to make her eyes appear more open and even bigger than they are. Note the highlighting under her brow bone, under her eye and around her nose and the lining all around her eyes (bottom and top).

We've rounded up some products and tools that you can use at home to help show off those bedroom eyes of yours':

One of the biggest complaints we hear from friends and ladies with small eyes is that mascara wands are either too long or too big for them. If this seems to be the case with you, look for lengthening not volumizing mascara wands. They tend to be skinnier and not as thick. 1. L'Oreal Paris Clean Definition Telescopic Mascara (C$9.19) is long and lean if that's what you're after. 7. Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara (C$5.59) has a thicker bottom on a short brush. This will create more volume at the outer corner of your eye and will still be easy for you to use. If you have trickier eyes, a brush made specificially for those baby bottom lashes might work best. Try 3. Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara (C$12.00).

Take a cue from T.Swift and try a smoky eye for drama and major intensity. We like 5. CoverGirl LiquilineBlast Eyeliner (C$7.99) because it has a built in smudging tool at the other end. Using shadow on the bottom and well up above the crease also brings out smaller eyes, just ask Ms. Dunst. 6. Lorac Starry-Eyed Baked Eyeshadow Trio (C$42.00) has all the colours you need to create a balanced and bold eye. Don't forget to curl those lashes too! While a traditional curler can be bulky for shorter lashes, a half lash curler like 2. MAC Half Lash Curler (US$20.00) can be perfect. It curls just the outer corner so you have those long, Kim K worthy lashes.

Like we mentioned, Kristen Bell shows that a highlighted browbone can work wonders. 4. Anatasia Brow Duality (C$30.00) is a crayon with both a shimmer and matte liner. Also perfect for the inner corner of your eye. On that note, we mentioned the usefulness of a nude liner previously and when it comes to smaller eyes, it's definitely worth mentioning again. We like 8. Tart EmphasEYES Inner Rim Brightener (C$23.00).
