Makeup Transformation: Matching Make Up
Matching your eye shadow to your nails or lips or matching all three together has long been a practice only for those of the old school make up philosophy. These days, matching your eyes to your blush to your lips and even to your nails is not only unnecessary but it can be over the top. However, Christian Dior showed this look on the Spring 2012 runway and we kind of love the polished and put together look. Make up artist and YouTuber Lisa Eldridge also caught on this trend and put together a tutorial showing how to pull off this monochromatic look, the video is up and posted here. We saw monochromatic fashion become a trend recently, make up just seems to be a natural progression. We decided to give it a try for make up transformation. We took before pictures- with our regular everyday make up and then after pictures with a matchy- matchy palette.

Yes, this is definitely something that I would try out. I like this look and how it's pretty much secretly matching, but to change the colour on my nails everyday depending on what I wear is a waste of time to some extent. Maybe it'll be better for a special event once in a while, but definitely not an everyday thing. Fabulous look!
There is nothing wrong with the look, but I agree with everybody else who has time to paint their nails everyday.
I do like it on Mandy and Michelle but dont like it on Alexandra or Shiori..I think all the girls look really nice on the first picture without all themakeup..;)

I love the look on Michelle and Mandy. I have to agree with everyone that this takes a lot of effort but once in a while it's great!
I quite like the red lips and nails look of michelle's. But i agree with you gals that this on a day-to-day is just more effort then i'd wanna put. I'm a rather sleep in for 5 extra minutes kinda gal.
I agree with Becky, colors that complement one another work much better.
Agree with everyone here: way too much work. You girls look nice, but you always look nice :-) I would rather wear colours that complement eachother, not necessarily matching.
I like this look but I agree with @takoda- it is a little too much to be doing every day. But if I already have on magenta nails, I would definitely consider doing a magenta lip and eye shadow to match!
I like the look on Michelle and Mandy, but its not something I would go out of my way to do everyday. I never even thought about it before, but to change your polish everyday to match your face seems like to much work to me. |
