Rumer Willis for Badgley Mischka: First Peek

It was announced back in December that Rumer Willis would be the new face of Badgley Mischka.  Yesterday, we got our first peek at the spreads expected to appear in the March 2011 issues of Vogue, InStyle, and other magazines.  Besides posing in gowns, we can expect to see her in shoes, bags, jewelry and swimwear as well.

She was an unexpected choice but perhaps that's the fun in it.  Some reactions have been strongly negative (see reader comments here), but I will go out on a limb and say I think she's an interesting pick.

Are you with me?

It would be tough having Demi Moore as your Mom and constantly compared to her! I like the left picture much better than the right.

I actually like that she isn't a cookie cutter beauty. Sure, she has a bigger jaw, but it makes her so much more real to me. There are many actresses whose career has been damaged by their plastic surgery (Jennifer Grey, Heidi Montag, etc etc), and many more who've cashed in on their non-conformist features to their benefit.

With all the cynicism around models and actresses who "have work done", it's refreshing that this high profile girl (okay, her folks are high profile) keeps it natural.

Anyhoo, that's my soapbox rant of the day!

Yay, Rumer! She looks stunning. Honestly, I think people are way too hard on her. Can you imagine having flawless Demi Moore as your mom and being constantly compared to her? I'm all for designers using women who have less than perfect features. It's much more representative of the rest of us and I think unconventional beauty is much more interesting. Good for her!

I think she looks amazing in these pictures, but I have to agree with one of the reader comments: My eyes go immediately to her face rather than looking at what she is advertising.

On second glance though, that dress in the right pictures is incredible... does it come in white?

She does look gorgeous though!

I do appreciate that she isn't an obvious choice for spokesmodel so they will probably stir up brand attention this way. She does look pretty in these pictures but I'm still not convinced she's right for the brand.
