We Love Fridays: Our Favourite Lip Balm Round Up

Posted by Alexandra C. | Friday December 6, 201311 comments

We've been talking a lot about moisturizing when it comes to your body and face. What we haven't yet discussed is one of the essential moisturizer products that I know we all have at least two of in our purses: lip balm.

Lip balms are a go-to all year round, but they become extra important in the winter. And hey, Christmas is almost upon us and mistletoe is bound to pop up. To help keep your pucker soft and smooth for any unexpected kisses, we rounded up ten of our current favourite lip balms. Are any of these your faves? Do you have any to add?

1. Vichy Capital Soleil Lip Protection Stick SPF 30 (C$13.00)

2. La Roche Posay Ceralip Lipid Replenishing Lip Cream (US$15.83)

3. Rosebud Perfume Co. Rosebud Salve (C$7.50)

4. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 (C$26.00)

5. Nivea Lip Butter (C$3.59)

1. eos Smooth Sphere Lip Balm (C$3.99)

2. Kosmea Skin Clinic Rescue Balm (C$34.99)

3. Caudalie Lip Conditioner (C$12.00)

4. Maybelline New York Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Lip Balm (C$4.99)

5. Hourglass N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil (C$49.00)

Nivea Lip Butter is nice, but I don't find that it hydrates your lips well.

As a lip balm/ lipstick junkie, I own 5 of these lip balms listed above. Love them all!
* eos Smooth Sphere Lip Balm (C$3.99)
*Maybelline New York Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Lip Balm (C$4.99)
*La Roche Posay Ceralip Lipid Replenishing Lip Cream (US$15.83)
*Rosebud Perfume Co. Rosebud Salve (C$7.50)
*Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 (C$26.00)

My favourite to put under a lipstick is "EOS smooth sphere lip balm" because it's not glossy or to oily. There is no shine, works really well under a lipstick. I use "La Roche Posay Ceralip" overnight to keep my lips moisturized from daily damage. (Also my Dr. recommended this one)" Rosebud Salve" is similar to Vaseline (the texture and finish) very moisturizing, smooth, hydrating. I would use this when my lips are really dry and chapped (cold weather days). "Fresh sugar lip treatment" smells divine! The original smells like lemon pie (tastes sweet too). I got the sample for the "original" and "sugar rose in a light pink packaging". The rose one gives a slight tint to your lip. Very natural and it smells and tastes sweet.

5. Hourglass N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil (C$49.00)

I saw the Nivea ones and was giving it some real thought earlier this week at Shoppers.
I didn't think the Maybelline Baby Lips was a lip balm, but I should try the medicated ones as well.
I have the Sugar lip balm, and love them. They are expensive, but they are really good. The only problem is the fact it tastes so good.

I may just stick with Blistex DCT (pink pod). But we shall see...

I`ve been in search for a good lip balm so this was very useful list. I might try the vichy one since it has SPF

My favourite is Nivea Hydro Care lip balm. But I always love to try new things. Recently I purchased Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment set.

I've review several lip balms from on line company's, but my favorite so far was one from Simple Siren's. It's called Blueberry Butter and it not only smells delightful it works very well.

I am hooked on Burt's Bees this year. Not only is it a balm, but it has a slight tint. :-)

@laurieb99 I like Maybelline Baby Lips but not for a lip balm, I use it as a tint. As a balm only, I agree, it's a bit drying. I would give the medicated one a try though, it contains hyaluronic acid and menthol. I would also suggest trying out Eucerin Aquaphor and La Roche Posay's cicaplast.
