5 Products You Should Try to Achieve a Natural Makeup Look

On the Fall/Winter 2011 runway, Stella McCartney gave us shoulders with clean lines and balanced out her neutral and basic colours with luxurious and textured fabrics. With the eye catching clothing, the make up palette was simple and naturally beautiful.

This look seems to be catching on for fall and with the red carpet about to be rolled out for Toronto's Film Festival, we wanted to know how to achieve this look.

Stella McCartney Fall/Winter 2011

We spoke with actress Tattiawna Jones who will be at the premiere of her new film Keyhole for TIFF. She's the epitome of 'girl next door' with her beautifully natural look, so of course we had to ask her how she does it to see if we could steal some secrets.

Her secrets are simple: she moisturizes, uses toner, loves mineral based chemical-free cosmetics, and never skips sunscreen (take note you sun worshippers!).

Her two must-have products?  Mascara and an eye lash curler- these products instantly brighten your face, help you look more awake and ready to take on the day. One easy tip she shared: baby wipes for on the go- cleanser in a pinch!

So with her all natural style, what beauty products will be in Tattiawna’s clutch for her very first red carpet?

“Lip gloss or lipstick” and an “HD Finishing Powder” she says- good choices for all the bright lights she is sure to have on her!

Tattiawna admits that she's 'still working on her fashion education', so in honour of that, we've complied a few ChickAdvisor member-recommended products you need to create a lightweight 'is she or isn't she wearing make up' face:

1. Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm (C$5.00)
2. CoverGirl NatureLuxe Silk Foundation (C$11.00)
3.
CoverGirl Lashblast Length Mascara (C$9.99)
4. Tarte Natural Cheek Tint (US$30.00)
5. MAC Paint Pots Eye Shadow in 'Painterly' (US$31.00)

personally....use a good face wash everyday and go without foundation for a more natural look...topped off with lip gloss!

I have most of these products!

The paint pots are pricey but can be worth it if you are using them daily. Most people use them as an eyeshadow 'base' however, if you have oily lids, use an eye primer first. "Painterly" and "Bare Study" are popular. If you want a "wallet friendly" alternative, try NYX jumbo pencils. They work just as well.

I don't care for the CG foundation. It doesn't apply well on me-it's patchy, and reminds me of a tinted moisturizer (which I am not a fan of). When I want to look like I am wearing 'less' or 'natural', I take my moisturizer and mix it with my foundation (I used liquid). Application is key when your desired outcome is natural as well....I use a sponge or brush to apply.

The tarte cheek tint is great!

Burt's Bees is very very SHEER. I like using a lipstain and then going over with a clear or lightly tinted gloss!

Great article!

I adore Lashblast Length, but it really comes down to what you need. If you want length, this is great. but if you want curl and volume, try the regular LashBlast or Maybelline's Falsies. (though for best curl, you should, you know, curl your lashes first)

I've been meaning to try the paint pots by MAC. But I never wear makeup these days except to go out so dunno if its worth the $30 investment.

PS: Has anyone else tried that mascara and had it just fail? I dunno why but it just did not do anything for my lashes :(

Love the idea of tips, yet you should have used more "natural items" to acheive the natural look.....
