D.I.Y. Decor: Canvas Wall Art

I saw this idea in a design magazine a year ago that I think was Canadian House & Home and it struck me as so stupid simple, even an all thumbs person like myself could do it.  They used it as an accent piece in an upstairs hallway but I bought such a big piece of canvas I only had room for it in the living room.

DIY Wall Art
All of the supplies were from an art store that was having a sale on huge canvases, so for all of the supplies I spent about $50.  I recommend not buying cheap brushes (like I did).  They left little bristles everywhere that I had to remove from wet paint with a tweezer.  Not fun.  I chose two different shades of blue so I could have some contrast. Indigo blue is everywhere these days, isn't it?  I'm not sure I need to explain the steps because it's pretty much what you see.  So let's get on to the before and after, shall we?

DIY Wall Art
I really like white.  I haven't hung anything in my living room since we moved in a year ago because I'm afraid to ruin the paint.  But this is much too much of nothing.

DIY Wall Art
Ta-da! This area now has a lot more personality and when I eventually want to change things up, I can cover the canvas with something else.  By the way, do you recognize that lovely DIY pot?

Would you try this in your home?

I do a lot of canvas wall art diy. I love it. It's so calming and stress reliever as well. Even have my
Kids do them too and they love it as well. Love the royal blue

This is a great idea, I would probaly add more than one color, but it gives me inspiration. It only takes a few small inexpensive changes to create a whole new space. I am excited can't wait to plan my room make over. Thanks!!

Love this! Big bang for small bucks. My BFF and I got together, with wine and did this. Only we did huge canvases with squares and I did one with irregular stripes. What was supposed to be a cheapie pop of colour for our spaces turned out to be a fave piece. I still have my orange-graduated painting hung in my home 10 years later.

What!? That's such a cool and easy accent piece! I want to do this! Now .... I have to find a free wall to fit it in. Perhaps my bathroom?
