We Love Fridays: BB Cream Round Up

Posted by Alexandra C. | Friday April 13, 201228 comments

We first spoke about BB creams last summer, and since then these all-in-one wonders have gone from cult fave to a must-have in any chick's makeup bag. BB creams originated in Asia and have been popular there for a while, but they've only recently come to North America.

We did a bit of BB beauty research and we've got to say, we're liking this trend! We love that BB creams are a lighter alternative to a foundation. They're tone correcting, brightening and give nice, even coverage on your face. In fact, for a day when you'll be out and about and don't want anything weighing you down, may we suggest skipping the foundation and concealer routine and going for a natural, bright, BB cream look?

1. Estee Lauder DayWear BB Cream (US$38.00)
2. Clinique Age Defense BB Cream (C$37.00)
3. The Face Shop Face It Shimmering BB Cream (US$13.50)
4. Skin79 Super+ BB Cream Triple Function (US$8.99)
5. Marcelle BB Cream (C$22.95)

One of the best features of BB creams is that most contain either an SPF, serum or are specially formulated for a specific skin type. Got combination, dry, acne prone or mature skin? They've got you covered!

1. Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream (C$50.00)
2. Vichy NeoVadiol Lumiere BB Cream (C$44.00)
3. Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream (US$9.99)
4. Stila Stay All Day 10-in-1 HD Beauty Balm (C$49.00)
5. Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream (US$19.79)
6. SkinFood Red Bean BB Cream (US$14.99)

Have you tried BB creams yet? Which is your favourite?

Thanks for the great tips!! Sounds like BB cream is the way to go! Now to find a Garnier coupon and hit the local Walmart!

@Becky I've actually replaced my primer with a BB Cream instead! I find that my mattyfying primer was too drying and my normal primer was too oily, this is a good compromise for me!

By far the Smashbox BB cream is the best. If you try that one first, all the rest will disappoint you. The coverage is amazing, it has SPF 35, it is super blendable, lightweight, creamy and long lasting, if set with a hint of translucent powder.

Try it out... it will probably be amazing enough to replace your regular foundation!

I am so seduced by these... I really want to simplify for summer and do the grab and go. But I am worried that my acne-prone skin will not tolerate these. And I won't wear anything less than a 15SPF. I wold totally worry if they don't put the SPF on the bottle... I'd be questioning why?

@Bren581 Go to WalMart right now!!! It's almost always on sale there for about $13 and you can also find a ton of coupons for Garnier BB Cream too. I got mine for about $10 because it was on sale and then I had a $3 off coupon. Try this link for coupons: http://www.chickadvisor.com/deal/garnier-coupons/ and their facebook page should have some coupons too:

beachbabe it says on the web site that it has SPF 15 in it. I know it
doesn't say that on the bottle, but it does on the web site. I was
concerned about that as well until I went back to the web site and
reread about it. So you should be good to go and if you like more then
that you can always use a moisturizer under it. Its up to you, I just
wanted to make sure you weren't missing out on this just because the SPF
wasn't written on the bottle. They really should clear that up on the
packaging.
