An Easy Updo, Sweet Snack, & More

Posted by Siofan | Friday April 15, 20119 comments

Reading Style Collective sites this week we discovered some real treats, both figurative and literal. Besides some great beauty and fashion finds (updos, nautical looks, bespeckled beauty), there were some actual yummy treats we're now craving.

We're already mentally prepping ourselves for when it has become too hot to blow dry but the thought of another ponytail is to much to bare, so we're bookmarking this très cute twisted updo that Beautygeeks posted. Plus it utilizes Spin Pins which we've been dying to try.

Whenever we wander down the grocery aisles aimlessly looking for snacks that won't come with an aftertaste of guilt, we pass by our fave granola bars and sigh for fear of what we'll see on the nutritional index on the side of the box. Sweet Potato Chronicles have a recipe for Cranberry Granola Balls that has us passing by that aisle and picking up the necessary ingredients to make these yummy bites.

Nautical style is showing no signs of sinking, so we'll be refreshing our stripe collection with the budget friendly suggestions of I'm the It Girl—and not all of her ideas are stripes for those with an aversion. From these very reasonably priced H&M shorts and Joe Fresh bag to the Marc by Marc Jacobs top that's a new twist on that old stripe, she's got ten pieces that will put the wind in your shopping sails.

We're so glad a reader asked Beauty Editor what makeup to wear with glasses (it's the question we didn't know we had); reading all of her suggestions and how different frames call for a different approach, we're a much smarter four eyes.

Would you try Beauty Geeks updo? Are you still drawn to nautical stripes? When you wear glasses do you change up your makeup routine?

I though Shoppers had them too! I was sure that I saw them on a rack... I must be imagining things now. I'll pick some up at Walmart when I go buy those Crest White Strips (I'm still really excited about that deal)

@Ali: Shoppers doesn't sell the Spin Pins. I've looked countless times! You can get them at Walmart or Loblaws though.

I've heard about spin pins for a long time and really want to try them but every time I'm in Shoppers I forget to pick them up!

I want those granola balls from SPC right now.

I love Spin Pins! They are my best friend.

I really liked the article on make-up with glasses. When I choose to wear my glasses, I usually stick only with some mascara and eyelinre on the outer part of my top eyelids, coloured gloss and nothing more. Simple is key. Glad to know I've been doing it right :)

I enjoyed that post too Lauren -- and I know someone I'd like to anonymously forward that post too! Dark, sparkly eyeshadow with glasses makes me shudder!

I really liked Beauty Editor's post about make-up and glasses. I always thought that glasses could make a woman's eyes 'pop' if she was wearing the right rims (I like to try glasses on while I'm at the optometrist... even though I have no chance of needing them anytime soon).

I want to try spin pins so bad, I keep forgetting to pick them up when I'm in Shoppers!
