Trending in Fashion: The Hidden Wedge Sneaker

Posted by Alexandra C. | Wednesday June 20, 201227 comments

It seems to me like the hidden sneaker wedge just kind of came out of nowhere. I guess you could say that the trend really 'sneaked' up on me. Yikes, bad pun. I apologize.

In any case, the hidden sneaker wedge is officially the 'it' shoe of the summer, as seen on celebs and street style chicsters alike. The Isabel Marant 'Willow' wedge sneaker is probably the most often spotted style of this shoe. Check out celebs like Ashlee Simpson (1), Dakota Fanning (2) and Rashida Jones (3) all sporting it:

Even with these very style crush worthy ladies wearing the shoe, I can't say that I am fully on board. I just can't seem to wrap my head around such a crazy hybrid shoe. I just don't get the appeal. If I wanted to wear sneakers, I'd wear sneakers. If I wanted to wear wedges, I'd wear wedges. Never in my life have I ever thought to myself, 'gee, I wish I could wear both sneakers and wedges at the same time'.

But maybe that's just me? I guess I do kind of like the idea of a comfy shoe that offers some height. Though, I think I'd like any shoe I wore to be more stylish, less casual. I will admit that I do find the the whole hidden wedge thing kind of cool.

What do you make of these hidden wedge sneaker options?

Every woman would look better in heels or wedge sandals than these - that's a given.

But there are places where most of us don't wear heels because we would look or feel out of place - such as a ball game, or to the convenience store.

The great thing about Hidden Wedge Sneakers is that you can wear them places where people don't wear heels - without looking out of place, and have all the advantages of heels (extra height, longer looking legs, improved posture, sexier walk & that good-feeling/little-buzz-of-excitement/confidence-boost that being up on your toes brings) without anyone knowing that you are even trying. Plus, a good Hidden Wedge Sneaker is comfortable enough for a whole day of running around here and there, which you can't do in stiletto's.

Hidden Wedge Sneakers aren't a replacement for stilettos and wedges. They are a replacement for Sneakers! (And yes, mine are as comfortable as normal flat sneakers.)

I really believe that these are one trend that will stay around for a long time as they are so practical & versatile. I'm really finding them to be my go-to shoe for everyday wear. I can just throw them on with jeans or leggins and just get on with my day without having to worry if they will be comfortable all day.

PS: Come winter, these will also be a great replacement for Uggs - which I don't much like the look of, but love the comfort of. My Hidden Wedge Sneakers are better looking than my Uggs, and almost as comfortable.

I love high top sneakers but these are just too much for me. They look nice but if I want to wear a wedge, I'll wear a wedge. lol.

Sooo not into it. It reminds me of boy shoes, which isn't cute on girls!
