We wanted to know and you answered us! We asked what some of your D.I.Y. beauty tips are. Members, Twitter followers, Facebook fans, staff and friends alike, all gave us some great advice. Here is a compilation of the best beauty advice, tips and tricks we got from all you lovelies. We also did a bit of research ourselves and found some great ideas for at-home beauty treatments.

If you've got any more good D.I.Y. beauty tips leave them below in the comment section, or you can leave them on Facebook or Twitter- we love learning new things!

In this Lip Exfoliant forum, member BeachBabe gave us a recipe for lip scrub inspired by Lush's lip exfoiliator
Here is her recipe:
1 tsp honey
2 tsp fine (or extra fine) granulated sugar. I used berry sugar. It's not as coarse as regular sugar.
1 chocolate square
1 dash of vanilla extract
1 dash of jojoba oil
She also added that the jojoba oil was an excellent cuticle moisturiser.

One of Alexandra C.'s favourite tips comes from YouTube guru Michelle Phan and her video for a kitty litter face mask. Kitty litter contains bentonite clay which is the same ingredient in many of the face masks you'd find in a drug store. You can use the kitty litter to draw out oil and impurities- at a fraction of the price! Alexandra mentioned this tip in a forum on Summer Beauty Tips, but she uses a blow dryer to set her make up in the morning and make it look more natural. Not only that, but try heating up your eyelash curler just a bit to get a more solid and staying curled lash. Be careful with this one- not too hot; you might burn yourself!

In a forum about Make Up Remover, member ra143 told us that they use olive oil as a make up remover- handy in a pinch!

All the ChickAdvisor staff have heard of using lemon juice and toothpaste to spot treat pimples as well as using Preparation H under your eyes as well, to reduce puffiness and bags.

Member meredithk115 has also heard of this, she said in the Wacky Beauty Tips forum: "One thing I was told about (when I was a guest on the Steven and Chris show) was a 'trick' to get rid of dark circles...Apparently dabbing potato juice (made by shredding the potato and squeezing the juice out of the shreds) helps lighten dark circles under eyes. weird."

We had a long conversation about washing your hair with beer via Twitter with followers @milkandcoco, @NRandCo and @rachelzwalton. Here's what they said:

@NRandCo: "Oh, yes - tried beer, eggs, mayo, avocado 'hair treatments'. Beer with soda water is supposed to remove product residue.""Top tip: do a final rinse with diluted regular shampoo (or gentle/baby shampoo). No stickiness."
@milkandcoco: "Just make sure [the beer] is flat and warm - shampoo first and the beer will act as your conditioner..."
@rachelzwalton: "It does, makes my hair super shiny! I read about it back in the day, Catherine Zeta-Jones does it ... so copied her, lol"

Here is a great DIY Sugar Scrub recipe via glamour.com:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup raw oatmeal
1 cup olive oil
Mix all the ingredients together and then apply on dry skin, using your hands. After scrubbing gently all over, step into the shower and rinse off.

On the same note as @NRandCo's tweet, here is some words of wisdom from member debois, found in a forum on using household items for beauty purposes.
"I have been using the egg whites mask since I was 13. It helps with my oily skin, and helped with zits. The egg yolks, I use for my hair, leaves it nice and soft. My mom's friend, a beautician recommends putting mayo into hair, leaving it for about 20 min with a cap on and washing it off with shampoo and condition as usual. The stuff smells, bit when washed away, the hair feels so soft."

Lastly, member Lauren Blair seems to be a DIY goddess of some sorts, here is an amazing tip she provided us in a forum of reusing coffee grounds:
"I don't like waste, and I'm always looking for DIY beauty tricks, so when I found out that you can reuse your coffee grounds for smoother skin I want to try it.
Here is what I do:
Mix some coffee grounds with natural oils or a shower lotion (whatever your preference) and make a paste with it. Use the paste as you would any other body scrub.
It's a really cheap way to smooth out your skin and you get the added bonus of the caffeine to 'perk-up' your skin."

So Chicks and Dudes- let us know if you have any great D.I.Y. beauty tips and if you've ever tried any of these DIY beauty regimes!
