10 Members' Faves: Eyebrow Pencils, Powders & More

We love a strong brow, but not all of us are blessed with even arches (and some of us committed some past plucking crimes that we're still not recovered from). Even if your eyebrows are fairly even and thick, a pencil or wax can help with symmetry and keep brows looking groomed. Here are some ChickAdvisor members' fave eyebrow pencils, waxes, powders and the like.

1. Maybelline New York Define-A-Brow Eyebrow Pencil
"This is amazing. It's actually now my favourite over the Anastasia brow powder I've been using for years. I got this free from the brand manager who thought I might like it. I was honestly shocked from the first use how much I love it. It actually looks more natural than the brow powder. The formula looks extremely natural and it allows for a very precise application. My brows have never looked better."

2. Milani EasyBrow Automatic Pencil
"This is by far my favorite eyebrow pencil that I also use as eyeliner. I have been using this for years now. Its slightly waxy texture does wonders for my sometimes unruly eyebrows. The pencil is retractable, so I never have to search through the black hole that is my makeup bag for a sharpener when I'm pressed for time to get ready in the morning, which happens everyday without fail, no matter how early I wake up! The pencil has a convenient spoolie brush that helps you blend the color for a more natural look. I also use it as an eyeliner either on my upper lash line and even on my water line. The formula is water resistant and lasts all day."

3. Make Up For Ever Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector
"What it is: A waterproof eyebrow defining cream in a tube. What it is formulated to do: Fills, defines, and intensifies brows with natural-looking, stay-put color. What else you need to know: The result remains flawless throughout the day and holds up under all conditions (water, heat, etc)."
-Imc1971

4. Bliss Poetic Brow Shaping Sugar Wax Kit
"I bought this online at Bliss World, mostly because I was buying a few other items that were on sale and I wanted to make my order worth the shipping costs. This is a great product! It is much easier to use than wax. The sugar washes off very easy, and it grabs the little hairs. It is easy to apply with the little plastic "wand" and doesn't get all over the place!"
-Patricia

5. Smashbox Brow Tech Wax
"I use it everyday.....the Smashbox Brow Tech Wax works really well to hold your eyebrows in a nice shape throughout the day. You can use it over eye brow colour, or just on it's own. I use it on it's own....I like the nice little sheen it gives my brows. The wax is never crumbly, or goopy, it's a creamy smooth, colourless texture. It just gives a nice, groomed appearance to the over all eye makeup routine."
-Artsy

6. CoverGirl Brow & Eye Makers
"I am a natural blonde, and thus I have had the lifelong problem of invisible eyebrows. I've tried many different things and for a long time I settled with a light blondey-brown colored eyeshadow. My problem was that I could never find a eyebrow pencil the right shade. They were always too dark and didn't work with my pale complexion. [CoverGirl Brow & Eye Makers] is the perfect color for a fair skinned blonde such as myself. It applies evenly and smudges well (I use my eyebrow brush) to create a natural look."

7. Rimmel London Professional Eyebrow Pencil
"Unfortunately, I do not have the naturally thick eyebrows thing going for me. However, with this eyebrow pencil I can shape my eyebrows to appear fuller without looking like a clown performed a makeover on my face! One of the most nifty parts about it is that there is a handy little brush on the cap of the pencil which helps to blend in the color to create that ever-so-natural look!"

8. Benefit Cosmetics Brow Zings
"My eyebrows remain tamed and defined with this cute compact. I bought it over a year ago and it still has a lot of usage to go. This compact has brown wax, brown shadow powder, 2 brushes for wax and powder, and a little tweezer. $30 is a bit hefty but you get so much for it and it will last you a very long time!"

9. DuWop Browwow
"This product allows me to acheive soft eyebrow definition, that does not look drawn in, along with volume to enhance the brow's shape. You apply the powder to any bare spots in the brow using the smooth end of the brush. The fluffy end of the brush is used to groom brows in place with the gloss. The shimmer cream highlighter is supposed to be applied to the brow bone with your finger tip (I used another disposible eyeshadow application) to add definition."
-MizzRobin

10. Quo Brow Focus
"I use this brow powder in brunette, and i love it. I use it everyday, and I've had it for quite awhile. I will definitely repurchase."
-RetroApple

I have never used an eyebrow pencil or powder before, I have always been a little curious though so I might have to make a few purchases.

I prefer using powder, because they give a more soft look to my wiry eyebrows. I"m especially loving the DuWopp brow!

The pencil is really good for filling in gaps but I do think that it doesn't look as soft as applying shadow with a brush. Maybe it's bc I don't do it too well but my eyebrows look drawn in when I use a pencil and it doesn't look natural at all. With the shadow, it looks natural and I have to agree with Siofan that the shadows lasts a lot longer than pencils.

I like a pencil for how accurate they can be, but often find I go through them super fast. The shadow/wax combos are nice as you can have more control over the amount of colour you layer on for a lighter or darker brow, however sometimes I find they don't adhere as well if you have gaps in your brow.
