Don't expect dramatic red-carpet gowns at the MTV Movie Awards, drama maybe, but only in the on-stage antics of presenters and award recipients. Short, body-con dresses are the silhouette of choice, and eye-catching prints and embellishment are the only way to stand out in a sea of tanned limbs and sexy blow outs. Here are our favourites from the 2011 MTV Movie Awards red carpet.


Reese Witherspoon, Lily Collins, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

The big winner on the red carpet was animal print. Whether in a sweetheart style like Reese, Lily's classic body-con sheath or a long-sleeved mini like Rosie's, these stars showed that if you're going to go short and sexy, you might as well go wild and pick animal spots and stripes.


Cameron Diaz, Leighton Meester

You may have some strong feelings about rompers, but you can't argue that Cameron Diaz looks amazing in this perfectly tailored black onesie that shows off her pins. Leighton Meester channels Jennifer Lopez's Grammy look in this heavily sequined mini, and we're really digging the pockets and looser fit.


Aimee Teegarden, Emma Stone

It's so easy to go black or neutral on the red carpet, but why blend in when you can go for a bright, bold print like Aimee—her one-shoulder draped dress creates an extra flattering shape by working with the print. Emma has managed to make black lace look summery, and we love that she didn't go matchy-matchy with her shoes and bag, choosing unexpected shades that don't stand out but compliment.
