Staff Picks: Jenni's 5 Favourite Beauty Products For Summer 2011

Summer is definitely not one of my favourite seasons: My hair frizzes and goes limp, my makeup always sweats off, if I try to wear more than a tank top or shorts I die of overheating. Somehow this year, I've been able to take the heat, maybe it's with all the products I've bought in the last month to prepare for impending heatwave doom? These are my five I-swear-these-work products that I've been finding myself using five hundred thousand times a day.

1. I definitely don't use this Emjoi Soft Caress Rechargeable Epilator very often—only because it works so well that I don't need to! It hurts more than any kind of pain you can imagine (maybe I'm exaggerating, just a little), but the results are great. Not all the hair comes out, but eventually the coarse hairs don't grow back, and you have smoother looking skin.

2. The Face Shop Floral Radiance Powder Pact Moisture Veil is a little hard to find, but a great product nonetheless. I use my Elf Kabuki Brush when applying, and it really mattifies the skin. I definitely reach for this more than my other pacts, mostly because it's not as heavy as the other ones!

3. With all the orange lips that have been popping up on the runway lately, but don't seem to be making their way to cosmetic counters, I was so happy I found Guerlain KissKiss Maxi Shine Lipstick. My particular shade is Grenadine Shine 647 (a shimmering deep peach). The best thing about this is how bold and orange it appears on my lips, giving me that summery look.

4. Okay, I cheated a little, I wear Bobbi Brown Long Wear Eyeliner all year long. However, I've been going through different brands of eyeliner for years and only now with this miracle pot have I found the perfect, non-smudging, non-smearing, long-lasting, waterproof eyeliner! Remember that you need one of those synthetic fiber eyeliner brushes when you purchase these! (I use the angled one by Sephora.)

5. A good brush is essential for those especially humid days when you apply foundation, but it seems to come off the moment you step outside your house. I use the Elf Kabuki Brush to dab on powder on top of my makeup every so often, and I always get even, non-creasing results. Definitely a staple for your purse!

Have you tried any of my favourite products? Any that you'd put on your hot list too?

Yes, it's the Braun Silk-Epil epilator! I have a newer one than Ali - mine has a light so you can see the hairs better. I swear by it too!

@Ali de Bold - Silk from Braun Epil, yes? I was considering that too! But since I haven't heard as many reviews on it as the one I have right now, I chose the emjoi. Maybe this is a good time to think about switching? haha

@ Becky - Maybe you can find a friend who's willing to split a shopping cart with you? I do that all the time with my girls :).
The kabuki brush is AMAZING and definitely worth it. It's so cheap for something so soft! (I wish you could download how it feels, it's just that good.)
And I remember you mentioning the MUFE foundation! I'm looking into it as we speak, I really hope it works well on me as it has for you!

Love the lipstick and I love how it looks on you!! I recently splurged on a mufe hd foundation, so can't go for the lipstick yet, but maybe ...soon ;-) The kabuki brush looks like such a good quality brush. I wanna get it but ordering from elf means i have to pay shipping & handling, which ends up being more than the actual product :(

I used to think the mac fluidline was a great gel liner, but i tried the l'oreal gel liners, and they are equally as good, if not better! They come with a really good applicator brush too! So when you run out of BBrown maybe try that out :)

Love your picks, stylish Lady! I didn't know you were an epilator fan. I swear by those. My fave is the silk epil and I don't know how I would survive without it.
