What's On Your Face, Jenny Bird?

Tell us about you!

I live in Toronto—Queen East in the Brewery Lofts. I design jewelry and accessories.

I am obsessed with white: everything, from my white loft and white car, to my white cat and white bedroom. Now I'm saving up for my white beach house!

What do you wash your face with? What moisturizer do you use?

I have super dry skin, so I focus on hydrating and avoid cleansers that leave that tight feeling.

I use a combination of Origins and Guerlain in my skincare regime, starting with Guerlain's Secret de Purete Cleansing Milk.

I moisturize with three layers: Vitamin E for any spots or fine lines, the Origins Plantscription Serum and Guerlain's Exceptional Complete Care Cream. If I am going to be outside for an extended period of time, I will apply an all natural sunscreen on top of that such as Alba Botanical.

Once a week (or twice in the winter), I do a hydrating mask while relaxing at home. I like to change it up between Origins Drink-Up Mask and Guerlain's Super Aqua-Mask.

Describe your average morning makeup routine, from the first thing you put on, to the last.

I like to start with under-eye concealer, preferably Origins Plantscription Anti-Aging Concealer.  I then apply Perfekt Skin Perfection CC Creme, a mousse-like combination of a light foundation and powder. For an extra hit of moisture, I mix it with a bit of Benefit's Total Moisture Facial Moisturizer on the top of my hand when applying it with a brush.

If I need to tackle any blemishes, I opt for Bare Minerals Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Concealer. Next I toss on a layer of  Perfekt Brow Perfection Gel followed by its partner-in-crime, Perfekt Cheek Perfection Gel. Depending on how dramatic of an eye I feel like having on a specific day, I'll top my eye lids with eye liner or shadow. I absolutely adore my YSL eye shadow palettes—their pigmentation is so rich and the powder feels like silk.

With my lashes, I tend to go for a more natural look and opt for a quick swipe of  L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara in black brown. I've been wearing this for more than 10 years and after trying many more expensive brands, it still comes out on top. It makes my lashes bold and thick without being clumpy or flaky.

To rid myself of any lingering signs of fatigue, I'll throw on YSL Touche Eclat (It. Is. Everything) and perk up my lips with some  Perfekt Lip Perfection Gel. I'm currently loving The Lipstick Queen in Pinky Nude. Soft lip colours are simply best!

If you need to get foxy in seconds, what is the one product you reach for?

L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara. I never leave the house without it on. And not so foxy, but I love CARMEX Lip Balm. It's the only one that fully moisturizes—I can't live without it!

I too haven't heard of Perfekt before. I don't hit up Sephora too often, so thats probably why.
I love that most people love Carmex so much. It is such an underrated lip balm, but it works!

imfeehily thanks so much! boxcat Perfekt is AWESOME - any of the perfection gels (eye, brow, lip) are my staples I think you can get at Sephora?! I use the bronze cheek gel in "bronzed" after foundation and before blush (although I often dont wear blush with it) and it brightens up my entire face. Ali de Bold you will love! I love this site! have you heard of the beautified app in NY?
