Party Perfect Beauty Polishes

| Sunday December 27, 20094 comments
After all the feasting and mugs of spiked 'nog, you can almost mark December off your to-do list... but there is one last event to come.

Put away those comfy pants, slip on your party shoes and ring in the New Year putting your best face forward!  Celeb makeup artist Sandy Gold teamed with us for some quick beauty fixes to get you polished for the Party of the Year.

Beauty Polish #1: Healthy Lashes

Your eyelashes need their beauty sleep too. To get them healthy and party-ready, dip a disposable mascara wand in Vaseline, scraping the excess off with a Q-tip wand. Gently run the mascara wand through clean lashes every night before you go to bed.  This night cream for your lashes will help strengthen, condition and soften  while you sleep.

Beauty Polish #2:  Flawless Face

The first thing you want people to notice is your fabulous smile - not all the foundation caked on your face. For the perfect amount of coverage, dip a Q-tip into your foundation and apply 8 dots on your face: 2 on your forehead, 2 on each cheek, and 1 each on nose and chin. Blend all over with your fingers for a perfectly even skin tone.

Beauty Polish #3: Smooth Hands & Soft Feet

No one wants to shake a dry hand or see cracked heels in your Jimmy Choos. To combat winter dryness, use a generous amount of Vaseline on your hands and feet before going to bed. Cover with a pair of gloves and socks and wake up to butter soft skin. This multipurpose salve also does wonders for your cuticles. Apply several times a day for best results.

Beauty Polish #4: Gorgeous Sun-Kissed Glow

Accessorize your party dress with a sexy glow, Gold suggests. Dip one end of a Q-tip in Pond's Skin Cream and onto on the back of your hand.  Dip the other end of the Q-tip into a liquid bronzer and mix into the cream.  Apply on your legs, face and body for an all-over glow on extra smooth skin.

Beauty Polish #5: Groomed Brows

A messy up-do can look sexy but untamed brows – not so much. To tame unruly hairs, take a spooly brush or a clean mascara wand and comb your hairs up. Using small hair clippers, trim only the hairs that are longer than your natural shape. Pluck away any strays with your tweezers and set your brows with a clear brow gel.

Beauty Polish #6: Oily Spotlight Begone!

Don't let your forehead do all the talking, especially when you’re trying to snag that cute someone. Blotting papers are a shiny gal's best friend and small enough to fit in the slimmest clutch. Rather than applying an absurd amount of powder, try blotting papers like Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets to remove excess oil and shine without adding more colour or texture to your skin.

Beauty Polish #7: Static-Free Hair

Banish winter-staticky hair by rubbing a little hand lotion in your palms and running it lightly over your mane. Don’t have lotion handy? Try a small amount of clear lip balm in a pinch.

Beauty Polish #8: Cheat A Pearly White Smile

Indulging in a glass or three of red wine is expected during the holidays but now your teeth are paying the price with a decidedly off-white cast. Nothing a little lipstick can’t fix! To make your teeth appear whiter, use a red lipstick with a blue undertone like M.A.C.’s Russian Red Lipstick. Anything that is too warm or has an orange undertone will make teeth look dingy. Your teeth will not only look whiter, but you’ll be wearing the hottest colour of the season!

Those oil-absorbing sheets have saved my life more times than you know! They are great to have at parties where lots of photos are being taken!
(If you can't find them at your local drugstore, you can also buy rice paper sheets at your local Sally Hansen shop).
