You've been asked to a fabulous holiday party but it's a potluck and though you can chow down with the best of them, you're no Nigella when it comes to the kitchen. What's a gal with little to no culinary skills to do? Easy peasy - no cook dishes and appetizers, of course!

They're so simple to put together, all you need to do is buy the ingredients and assemble (you can even do it at the...

New Years Eve is always kind of a let down. I hype it up so much and when it comes down to it, it's always lame. Plus, going out is going to cost you $$$. Heading to a club? Be prepared to pay cover charge and for drinks worth a quarter their price. Your best bet is have a few close gals and guys over, spruce up the place to get the atmosphere right, pump the jams and get down to having fun.

This could also be called Lazy Gingerbread Cookie Recipe because I took out all of the ingredients I deemed unnecessary (yes, even the ginger) to make these as simple as possible.  Great for people with short attention spans or if toddlers are present.

Ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

In my house, these are called Chocolate Bears.  Largely because the recipe is from Build a Bear and came with a bear shaped cookie cutter.  These are ridiculously addictive, so consider yourself forewarned.

So, we asked Talia to give us her favourite smoothie recipe for something delicious and nutritious.

We recently had the very fabulous Lauren Rivietz tell us how to keep your cool while planning the perfect party this holiday season. Which got us thinking about our own holiday parties and how we were going to bring some personality and flavour to the season. We already discussed the quintessential dinnerware and table setting for the holidays, but there is so much more when it comes to creating...

The other day, I wanted to bake some buttery biscuits to pair with my dinner. Evidence that sometimes, I can pull off the homemade gourmet meals. I gathered all the ingredients and whipped them up. When I pulled them out of the oven, they were less than impressive. Small, sunken, flat and not at all raised and fluffy. Evidence that sometimes, I completely fail at homemade, gourmet meals.

I mean, I...

Aside from presents, my favourite thing about the holiday season is entertaining. I love bringing people together, having a laugh or two and sharing a fabulous meal. A few years ago, we hosted an awesome cookie exchange party. This year, I'm feeling a little grown up and I think a retro dinner party is in order.

Part of what makes the perfect dinner party is having the perfect table...
