My 6 yr old daughter loved loading the included cannonballs, taking aim, and firing at the Viking figures. Her favorite of course is Toothless because it is designed to launch projectiles. The set is simple, but the play options are versatile: line up the targets, blast them down, reset, repeat. This tactile, kinetic play keeps kids engaged without screens or complicated rules. It works great for creative kids with attention and focus difficulties as well.
What makes the set shine for our family is that it faciliates imaginative storytelling. My daughter came up with so many additional stories (probably enough for another movie). The toy effortlessly combines structured and open‑ended pretend play ideal for ages 5–7, as advertised.
As parents we like that the pieces are lightweight, easy to set up, and most of all don’t require batteries and/or make loud noises. The cardboard Vikings are sturdy enough for repeated play, though heavy‑handed kids may bend in time. The projectiles are soft and safe, which is a relief when excitement ramps up and aim becomes… elusive. It took a bit of figuring out how to insert the projectiles in Toothless' mouth (how to open his mouth) and to position the projectile in the cannon. The sizes of the different items are just right for the age-range, even for more petite/smaller children like ours.
As a gift, it’s a strong choice for birthdays & holidays, especially for kids who already love dragons and action play. It’s not a huge, elaborate playset — but that’s part of its charm. It’s compact, energetic, and instantly playable and replayable.

I loved the quality and colour scheme will recommend other parents but would to avoid pointy edges that might be harmful to kids when they are playing them.

We had such a great time with this game! My daughter absolutely loved it and played without getting bored at all . Time flew by while we were playing!

It’s a really fun game for the whole familyWe all enjoyed it so much. The extra pieces make it easy for two players to play comfortably, which adds even more fun. Highly recommend for family game time.

Exciting play time

Dreamworks How to Train Your Dragon, Trial of Flame, Blazing Battles Toothless Cannon Blast Playset comes with Toothless action figure, cannon, 3 cardboard viking figures and 4 blasters. Your kids will have a blast recreating the Trial of Flames with this toyset. Toothless has many moving parts. His tail even moves for easy holding with a trigger to shoot. It is great to play with others against the Canon and there are even more sets to collect to assemble all your other favourite heroic Dragon and Viking duos from How to Train Your Dragon. My kids really enjoyed battling against each other. They had endless fun and they toys were well made.

A super fun toy

My child loves the How to Train your Dragon series, so they were very excited to play with Toothless and Hiccup. Hiccup is fantastic quality, the wings move flawlessly, and the button to fire away is easy to press and a lot of fun. I wish the standing characters were plastic, because I worry the cardboard won’t last as long. The ballista falls apart a little too easily and it’s tricky for kids to put it back together. It even took me a second to figure it out. Overall though, it’s a great toy that gets kids to run around and practice their physics skills with figuring out how to launch at the best angles. Spin Master makes great toys and I’d love to try more!

We absolutely loved the toy. The quality is good and doesn't fall apart easily. My son played with it for over 30min independently and we also played together.

Interest are different

The toy itself is neat but unfortunately my child was not interested in playing with this toy as he is not in to it but for a child of younger age who likes the movie then I would say definitely would enjoy.

My 8 year old loved his DW Dragon Toothless!

My son loved the set! He was so excited to play wit the dragon that he tried to quickly assemble the tail and put it on backwards! The quality is great, as the details on the figurines were accurate to the live action. He even loved how tricky it was to use the cannon ! A challenge he was ready for and with practice gave him quite the ego boost !

Interactive and imaginative fun!

Our girl looooves this toy! Shes a big fan of the HTTYD franchise and loves Toothless, but spinmaster knocked it out the park with this toy. We were surprised with how well both the dragon and catapult aim and how far they’re able to shoot. The “fire” has the perfect weight to go quite far but is so light, so no ouchies for the three year old (or us, because she likes aiming at us lol). We can’t wait to see what Spin Master comes out with next!

Fun with close supervision

We have future dragon trainers in our classroom. We were fortunate to receive the How To Train Your Dragon Blazing Battles "Toothless" Cannon Blast and very excited to try out another awesome Spin Master toy. We had a 4-year-old student explore the dragon with the blasters. Since her fine motor skills are still developing, it was challenging for her little hands to insert and load the blasters into the dragon’s mouth, as the curved pieces needed to line up correctly. The dragon will be fun addition to our classroom collection of figurines and toys. For safety during play time, we will only be using the dragon without the blasters. However, during closely supervised small groups or either individual play, we can use this feature as a fun learning tool. For example, exploring how far the blasters can go. Overall, we are loving this free product from @thisisbutterly and @spinmaster
