I bought this product last summer and its probably still full.. I don't recommend this product. It smells atrocious, it has those damn sparkles in it and all it does is make you .. orangey dark. It doesn't even moisture and leaves you with a greasy feeling.
I'm a very pale person. I can't tan, I just burn. Because of this, I need an alternative to burning my skin to a crisp, but make me still look like I got some sun. I used Jergens Natural Glow for Fair skin tones, and applied it in the late afternoon. I agree that the smell is a little weird and lasts for a while, but other than that it was a pretty decent self-tanner. It dried quickly, and the colour was somewhere between a yellowish tinge and an orange tinge, but not an overly fake colour, it actually looked believable. This worked the best on my arms and chest, it became very spotty and streaked on my legs. Despite this, I think it did a decent job at the parts where it did not streak (stomach, arms, chest, back, shoulders). It makes sense since my legs are probably the driest part of my body and probably didn't absorb it well or absorbed too much at certain spots. I think this would be a great self-tanner for me to use in the winter (when I don't need to worry about self-tanning my legs anyways), just to put on my arms and chest.
So all in all I'd say it's pretty average. It looked really nice on the areas where it didn't streak. And one day of application was enough to show a noticeable difference. I'll keep this for later on. :)
I used to go tanning in the tanning beds during winter once in a while to get a nice glow, and so I didn't look ghostly pale. After learning about how bad those beds were these gradual self tanners sounded like a great idea. I didn't want to be extremely tan, but just have a nice glow. So this was the very first lotion I tired. I used to for about a week, and didn't see any difference. The lotion felt a but sticky until it dried. I eventually gave up, as I wasn't seeing any results, maybe my skin was already too tan for the product? The smell was horrible, that fake tanner smell, which made me self conscious of it, thinking other people could smell it too. The lotion also did nothing to moisturize my skin, as if no lotion was put on at all. If you really want to build a nice looking tan I would recommend looking into a higher quality self tanner, and spending a few more bucks. It would be worth it if you want to get a natural looking tan, and a product that actually tans you. Instead of no results, or streaky and orangey.
Ugh!! when i used this, I went orange!!! Maybe i was doing it wrong, but i dont think i will ever use this again hahah!! It was streaky, and stuck to my fingers, any dry patch of skin, and dried very slowly.
this product, although easy to spread, goes on like any other lotion, but this one sticks to your fingers.
but you dont find that out until it dries. it is very streaky. and you font find out where you missed until it dries.
i am unfortunate to have very sensitive skin and one night after having a shower and shaving my legs i
had the bright idea to put some on, well i dont know what ingredient was in it because it wasnt even dry
and my legs were hurting. the open pores were stinging from my freshly shaved legs.
i wouldnt recommend this for anyone who has sensitive skin. this wasnt the product for me.
I bought this product quite a while ago. I've always been told I look better with a tan so I figured what's better than finding a cheap gradually tanning lotion? Was I wrong! I could sit and rub this lotion all over my body thoroughly and I still had bright orange lines from where it didn't absorb good enough. Worst of all, if you don't get it off your hands fast enough it'll turn your hangs orange, I had bright orange lines between my fingers for weeks! Ew! Plus it didn't really change my skin at all other than the orange streaks. Which I'm kind of glad my body didn't turn that funky orange color. Save your money!
I really love this stuff! It gives my skin a healthy glow, none of that unappealing orange color here! I only used it a few times before I could start to see the new hue. I looked very nice and natural. Pros are definitely the effect on my skin and the price, not to mention it is safer than sun-bathing. The cons would be the smell. It is a little stronger than I would like, but the smells of self-tanners seem almost unavoidable. After it dries I use a strongly perfumed lotion that I love....it takes away some of that potent aroma that the tanner gives off. Definately a great buy!
I like this product. I should preface this review by saying that I have a fairly medium skin tone to begin with, so I don’t think streaking has as much of an effect on my skin as it would for fairer skin tones (however I could be wrong). Also, I have never used other self-tanning products so I can’t fairly compare it to others on the market, I can only speak from my experience with this one product.
After using it about 2-3 times your skin shows a healthy bronze glow, which is not orange at all. I got several compliments on my skin tone, with people asking if I had gotten some sun over the weekend when I used it. I like to use it at the beginning of the summer season when my skin hasn’t tanned naturally yet.
As other reviewers noted, it does smell awful. Also, you do have to make sure that you wash your hands really well after application, because it did stain my nails a kind of brownish orange colour which was pretty gross.
Overall, I think it’s a good buy because it’s relatively cheap, and the results aren’t so drastic that a good exfoliation in the shower couldn’t fix it easily.
