I have long eye lashes.. And it has a wet formula.. I waited couple seconds before applying the second coat and liked it! I would definitely go for waterproof version though for humid summer.
Formula: Definitely made for people with long lashes
Applicator: Very very easy to use (it makes it easier to reach end and beginning of your eye lashes)
Packaging: Made me happy the moment i had it in my hand. Very chic! Love it!
When I first tried Falsies I was truly impressed with the look. I got very excited about and even my guy friends noticed. Unfortunately after about 10 minutes of wearing it my eyes started to burn and water like crazy! I was hoping it was just my allergies and tried to keep it on, but I just couldn’t handle the burning….I had to go wash it off. I put away the mascara for a week and I decided to try it again yesterday before writing my review and it was no different. I’m very disappointed that it irritated my eyes because I really loved the look of it. I hope they come out with something similar for sensitive eyes. Thanks for letting me try it though!
This mascara did wonders for my eyelashes. I don't think it actually gives the effect of "false" eyelashes, but it certainly did make mine look thicker and blacker. I would definitely purchase this again. The curve in the brush makes for easy and precise application.
Maybelline New York The Falsies Volum' Express Mascara works great at darkening and lengthening eyelashes even though it was designed for thickening purposes. I found that its volumizing properties are good but nothing out of the ordinary, possibly because the formula is on the wetter side. I was happy that the formula didn't smudge and I think the packaging is really cute! I would recommend this if you are looking for a great overall mascara. If you already have eyelashes on the thicker side but need a little boost, definitely give this a try!
I received a copy of this for the product preview. I was really excited to try this item as Maybelline tends to have really great mascaras.
My expectations weren't exactly met. It did end up going on very smooth, and dark, but I did find some clumping together, and it was wet going on, so you had to be careful not to get it anywhere else.
It came off really easily when washing my face, but that just scared me about getting caught in the rain.
I was a little disappointed in this mascara, and don't know that this would be a must have in my makeup bag.
I have been searching for a new favourite mascara for several months. Unfortunately Maybelline New York The Falsies isn't going to be it.
I really, really want to love Maybelline mascaras. But there's always something that prevents me from loving any Maybelline mascara--either clumping, smell or ineffectiveness. This is the best Maybelline mascara I have tried so far, but I still won't be buying it.
I didn't have an issue with smell, and I didn't experience any clumping, but I also didn't experience any volume. I have long, curly lashes but they are not very dark and not very thick. The Falsies lengthened my lashes even more, often leaving smears on my eyelids until it dried. (This is a common problem for me so I always apply my eyeshadow last, but it's still annoying to remove makeup as you put it on.) Unfortunately, the added length makes my lashes look even sparser than they are. On the plus side, I only experienced flaking once after applying several extra coats at the base of my lashes in an effort to make them look thicker.
The Falsies is oh-so-close on so many levels. If it was just a bit better at thickening. If it was just a bit less effective at lengthening. If it was less intensely black and didn't look so fake. I want to love it, but it's just not quite there for me.
If a friend with thick but short lashes asked my opinion, I might recommend the Falsies to them. It's great at lengthening but it did not impress me with it's volume.
i thought this mascara was a disappointment. i did like the packaging - very fun - but otherwise, i'm not much of a fan. the wand seems too small for the tube so i had to scrape off at least half the mascara before i'd apply it (a pain in the neck) and i found the formula too wet and the first few apps were rather messy (no time for that). plus, unless i used a lash comb or brush, any more than one coat would clump and stick my lashes together (imagine tammy faye baker). nothing remarkable about this product. i'll persevere with the tube i bought but highly doubt i'll buy it again.
I received "The Falsies" mascara in black brown courtesy of the Product Review Club. I was really excited when I read positive initial reviews of this mascara, but I am really disappointed on how it performed on my own lashes.
First, a little background on my lashes: I have stick straight Asian lashes. My lashes aren't super short, but they lack volume and curl. Most non-waterproof mascaras do not hold the curl I get from my lash curler.
Now, on to the mascara. Where it excels is in the brush: the curved spoon-like brush really works best to reach to the tiniest of lashes in the inner corners of my eyes. I didn't experience any flaking or smudging throughout the day.
As far as the negatives go, I have a lot to say about The Falsies. First of all -- take note Maybelline! -- if you are trying to convince me that this'll give me that false lash like effect, you better send me the blackest black formula. I am a big fan of false lashes on myself, and this doesn't even come close. I found the formula to be okay -- a bit clumpy actually. Also, although there is still some semblance of a curl left after 2 coats of The Falsies, it is not enough for me to call it a curling mascara.
Compared to my usual volumizing mascara, L'Oreal Voluminous, I still prefer L'Oreal's mainly for its formula -- it is more wet so I find it easier to work with. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this mascara to a friend. I still prefer L'Oreal Voluminous when I am looking for a lot of volume for cheap.
Thanks to ChickAdvisor for giving me chance to review this product. The metallic purple bubblewrap and coupons for friends were amazing.
On to the product...
The colour of the packaging is really nice. It's very eye-catching.
The curved brush allows for full coverage of each individual lash.
Falsies claims to be "fibre-enriched". Personally, I don't see many fibres. I applied 3 coats of this and the trick is to apply the coats consecutively so there will be no clumping. It lasted throughout the day without flaking. I saw some added length to my lashes but volume, not so much. The formula for Falsies does not hold curl well and it is not waterproof which is a downside to this mascara.
Overall, I would buy this mascara again if Maybelline releases it in a waterproof formula.
Thank you Chickadvisor for choosing to test out this product. I loved the purple bubbled packaging, very nice.
So I've tried this product out a couple of times now and I love the finished results. What I love about this product is how natural it makes your eyelashes look, with wearing false eyelashes sometimes you can tell. Compare to my other volumizing mascaras this one does not give me clumps no matter how many times I apply it on to give my eyelashes more volume. I also think the design of the brush is very clever.
