I have combination skin, which means that even though I am middle aged, I constantly suffer from clogged pores and blackheads and occasional acne. I use exfoliating scrub regularly and a manual blackhead extraction tool to try to keep my clogged pores at bay, but it’s always a constant battle. I was excited to try this product to see if it could help with my clogged pores.

This is easy to set up. I read the instruction manual and plugged the device in. However, the manual specifically warned to not use this device unless a black wool filter is properly in place. I looked at the pictures, re-read the manual, and could not find out where the black wool filter was supposed to go or how to change the wool filters. So I went online to the company’s website and thankfully there was online chat support and the customer service agent informed me that there was already a black wool filter pre-installed so the device was ready to use. To change the black wool filter, you need to pull off the head of the device and inside you will find the filter to change. The manual needs to be updated to instruct how to find and change the black wool filter.

This device works by basically sanding and sucking your skin like a vacuum. You need to place the donut shaped tip flush against your skin. Once there is a proper connection it will start to vacuum suck your skin and you pull the device across your skin to exfoliate it down. There are two levels of suction - low or high.

The device came with 30 replacement black wool filters, so more will need to be purchased in the future. The “diamond tip” will also undoubtedly become dirty after a few months of use. The manufacturer therefore recommends that the tip be cleaned with an ultra sonic jewelry cleaner every few months (you can buy one yourself or take the tip to a professional jewelers and they can do it for you).

Now for the best part – I found that this device really had an amazing effect on my skin. After only 2 uses, the clogged pores on my nose were visibly reduced and my skinned looked fantastic! The rest of my skin on my face felt smoother as well. But seriously – I cannot recall the last time the skin on my nose looked this clear. I was really happy with the results!!

At the time of writing this review, the list price is $99.99 on amazon.ca. I understand there are bigger and better machines on the market, but they cost much more than this one. I think the MiniMD is worth its price, and would definitely consider purchasing it again and would recommend it to other consumers.

I received this product at a discounted price in return for my honest review.
