Cafes Reviews

A café requires just one thing to win our hearts: truly decadent coffee.  We've come across our fair share of snooty décor, name-dropping baristas, and lack of seating space, but all is forgiven when we're handed our immaculately brewed Americano or Soy Chai Latte - whichever's your preference.  The search for the next must-stop java joint is an urbanista's favourite pastime... and when we can find one that also serves a great lunch, well you had us at Bonjour!

In Toronto, we're partial to The Sandwich Box, Le Gourmand, and Sense Appeal Coffee Roasters.  Which is your favourite?

Green Traiteur & Cafe

1 review

This bright airy traiteur has all the fixings of my dream cafe. The decor is uber stylish with high ceilings, dark wood floors airy white walls and chairs punctuated with cheery green accents. The selection of pastries, deserts, lunch items, fresh fruit juices and wines make...
The Roastery Coffee House

1 review

The Roastery has two locations (8 Pardee and 401 Richmond Street W). I've been to both. The Paradee one is cuter. Seems more like an authentic Italian cafe (pictured), but the one on Richmond Street has free wireless access. Both serve delicious coffee. I'm very picky about my...

Starbucks Larry Uteck

This location of Starbucks lost my business to bad service a little over a year ago. I've recently decided to give it another shot and have been really impressed with the newfound enthusiasm and excitement of the staff. They're excited to share their knowledge about the coffee...
Swiss Chalet Restaurant - Edmonton, AB

We went to this restaurant yesterday and ordered a quarter chicken with fries, bun and the sauce. We had ask for the fries to be extra crispy. Well, the fries were very disappointing just barely cooked. The chicken was very well done and rather chewy. The only thing I liked...

Love Starbucks cafés. Since I work from home I often relocate to coffee shops for a change of scenery. My local Starbucks is my go to. The atmosphere is perfect for hanging out. Love the music and the social atmosphere. The lattes are amazing though high in sugar.

Birds and beans coffee shop

Place with amazing idea (Canada's choice for sustainable coffee offering a wide selection of certified organic, shade grown, fairly traded, and Bird Friendly coffees - no conventional coffee here!), fantastic location (right by the lake). I used to go to place a lot, as its so...
Restaurant Grindstone Cafe

1 review

Our first visit to the Grind Stone proved a very worth while trip! We had soup and sandwich special. The sandwich came with your choice of bread, I chose cracked wheat, with horse-radish cheddar cheese and beef! Excellent btw.
Tim Horton's

1 review

Well, where to start! Of course, I'm Canadian, so Timmy's is a staple. Their coffee is truly one of the top coffees out there, and I'm addicted! I don't quite like the new baristas, and because Tim Horton's hires a lot, I meet a lot of those... they're...
White Squirel Coffee Shop

this place has soo much potential, great name close to park, interesting space, but it falls flat- the minimalist and boring decor over the 2 story space doe not provide anything that absorbs sound, any clanging of coffee machine, talking etc just bounces off the walls. the...

Equator Roasters

I visited this cafe JUST for the amazing organic coffee, and decided to have breakfast as well. I had the Skillet breakfast. The poached egg was rubbery and the toast was cold. The sweet onion "jam" was delightful, though, and was a very welcomed surprise. I ended up buying two...
Jumping Bean Bedford

When this place first opened just over a year ago it took my Saturday morning cafe time from Starbucks in a flash. It had a great atmosphere with great tunes that were a backdrop rather than overpowering conversation. A couple times visitors even had a sing-a-long when great...
Bosie Tea Parlor

1 review

Located at: 10 Morton Street New York, NY 10014 This was one of the most charming cafes I've been in but it's very expensive! I came here because a friend of mine invited me. There were so many choices of teas it was mind-blowing. There were so many customers that came just to...
Mountain Bean coffee Co

Mountain Bean is one of Winnipeg top coffee (IMHO) shops. I like the decor and the coffee is really very good. I like the comfortable setting and the outdoor tables are nice during the warm summer months. I recommend this fine establishment.
Bouchon Bakery

This bakery/restaurant is located in the Time Warner mall in columbus square near central park. It's on the 3rd floor. The pastries are pretty good but a bit pricey. We came here for a quick breakfast before heading out to the MOMA. 2 pastries and 2 lattes was about $14. For...

Salted Caramel Iced Capp

1 review

The new salted caramel iced caps from Tim Hortons are delish. They are quit rich, so ordering a large size might not be wise, but a small one seems just right.
