Cafes Reviews

A café requires just one thing to win our hearts: truly decadent coffee.  We've come across our fair share of snooty décor, name-dropping baristas, and lack of seating space, but all is forgiven when we're handed our immaculately brewed Americano or Soy Chai Latte - whichever's your preference.  The search for the next must-stop java joint is an urbanista's favourite pastime... and when we can find one that also serves a great lunch, well you had us at Bonjour!

In Toronto, we're partial to The Sandwich Box, Le Gourmand, and Sense Appeal Coffee Roasters.  Which is your favourite?

The Good Neighbour Espresso Bar

2 reviews

I recently had the pleasure of going to the Good Neighbour Espresso Bar to meet a friend to catch up and grab a quick coffee. I am not sure I would have otherwise discovered this gem unless I had walked by or someone had told me about it because of it's location but I am glad...
Caribou Coffee

1 review

Caribou Coffee is offering a brand new spread on the drink options, Steering away from the generic offerings of coke and diet coke. They have a new glass bottle option of a ginger ale that is pomegranate flavored. Nice and perfect size with just the right amount of fizz to go...
Caribou Coffee-Iced Latte

1 review

Had the pleasure of having one of the new lite drinks that Caribou Coffee is offering now. I had the Iced Lite white vanilla mocha with Soy milk. The texture was perfect and not to sweet. I think that the coy mild ups the taste just a tad other than the dairy milk. Will...
L'Express Café

1 review

I first stumbled across L'Express Café kiosk during the 2010 Olympics. I was heading off to practice for the Opening/Closing ceremony performers and needed a hit of something before I went. It has now become one of my go-to places. Everything I have had from L'Express...
Fine Grind Cafe

1 review

I came across this little cafe in downtown St. Catharines in late 2009. My boyfriend had taken me there because he said the owner makes the best hot chocolates - gourmet, with REAL CHOCOLATE, ladies! I love-love-LOVE the hot chocolate. I am lactose intolerant so it's hard to...
Coffee Culture

1 review

I've only ever been to Coffee culture twice, but I loved it both times. The first time, I had a smoothie and a grilled pesto, tomato and cheese wrap. The smoothie had the right consistency and the wrap was grilled to perfection. Both times I went for a quiet lunch with...
Tim Horton's

1 review

Well, where to start! Of course, I'm Canadian, so Timmy's is a staple. Their coffee is truly one of the top coffees out there, and I'm addicted! I don't quite like the new baristas, and because Tim Horton's hires a lot, I meet a lot of those... they're...
Starbucks

1 review

Well, let's start on a positive note. Starbucks baristas are very friendly and helpful, even when it's the middle of a rush. They do have healthy options like the protein-spiked smoothie, for only 200 calories or so (it comes in banana orange or banana chocolate, and I...
Lazy Bug Bubble Tea Shop

1 review

I went to the Lazy Bug to get some bubble tea a few years ago. I had never had it, so I wanted to try it. I realized that tapioca is an acquired taste, but after the first time of not liking it, I had it again and liked it. It certainly grew on me. The second time I went, I...
Starbucks

I absolutely love Starbucks, considering that they are one of the few coffee shops that offer lactose free milk and dairy free options, I am able to enjoy almost any type of drink. Plus their matcha latte (lactose free) is delicious.

Moonbean Cafe

I am an independent coffee shop lover, and my absolute favourite cafe in the city [Toronto] is 'Moonbean Cafe'. Located at 30 St. Andrew Street, in the heart of Kensington Market (the city's hub for all that is hipster cool), the quaint cafe offers top-grade...
Mariposa Market

1 review

I cannot say enough how awesome Mariposa Market is :) It's definitely a favourite in our area, and it's always packed with customers. It's a cafe as well as a bakery and gift shop. The seating for the cafe is excellent - very cozy with wooden tables and chairs, and...
Coffee Culture

I love Coffee Culture in Whitby. My favourite drink is the latte but their regular coffee is great too or they have iced coffee/chilled drinks for the summer. They also have delicious muffins, bagels, cookies, cakes, sandwiches, soup. I love all the grilled flatbread...
Cafe Olympico

1 review

This place has to be one of the best coffees in Montreal. They only serve esspressos and its derivates (lattes, cappucinos, machiatto). It is one of my top picks for coffee, period. I only take the espresso, and it comes with a rich 'crema', thick and golden, rich and...

Jerry's Cajun Cafe & Market

My husband took my to Jerry's for the first time 13 years ago. It has since changed locations, but the food is still the best Cajun you can get without driving to New Orleans. I highly recommend cajun new potatoes and cajun bread, ah with some grilled fish.....My mouth is...

Wibke's Espresso Bar

1 review

Bloor West Village needed a cafe like this. Though there are Timothy's, Starbucks and other chains in the area, there are very few independent cafes that know how to pour a good espresso. This tiny cafe is located on Bloor at Jain and owned by a bubbly German named Wibke...
