Cafes Reviews

A café requires just one thing to win our hearts: truly decadent coffee.  We've come across our fair share of snooty décor, name-dropping baristas, and lack of seating space, but all is forgiven when we're handed our immaculately brewed Americano or Soy Chai Latte - whichever's your preference.  The search for the next must-stop java joint is an urbanista's favourite pastime... and when we can find one that also serves a great lunch, well you had us at Bonjour!

In Toronto, we're partial to The Sandwich Box, Le Gourmand, and Sense Appeal Coffee Roasters.  Which is your favourite?

Parlour Coffee

1 review

Parlour is a beautiful little independent cafe on the edge of the Exchange. It's a small space so seating is very limited and they don't provide wi-fi (the sign says talk amongst yourselves instead). The coffee is excellent. There were very few pastries when I visited so I'm...

This cafe's super close to Summerhill station, & in my opinion has the best coffee selection around. *drool* They have UNREAL; coffee, patio space, environment, wine, beer, scotch, bourbon.. and amazing staff. I live in Liberty Village, but it's worth the trip up...
Cafe Postal

This is cute little cafe is located in St. Boniface in the heart of French speaking Winnipeg. It's tiny, but the coffee is good. When I visited, patrons were speaking French, which made the experience fell that much more authentic. I do like the coffee, but the roast isn't...

Euphoria Cafe - Calgary

1 review

Euphoria is one of those cozy little cafes that is hip and indie. The owner is awesome, and all their gluten-free baking is down at his girlfriends house, which is entirely gluten-free. My favorite drink is the Dublin Fog, and they serve amazing made-to-order (non-gf) waffles...
Java Blend Coffee Roasters

coffee that can be purchased on the shelf at the store or even specialty places like Starbucks has been there for a looong time, roasted months ago. The reason I don't buy this kind of coffee is because of a fungus that grows on coffee beans. This form of fungus creates...
Starbucks

Blue Fox Restaurant in Victoria, BC

I loved this place when I visited Victoria! I had some sort of decadent apple pancake situation, with coffee. My friends all went for savory egg dishes. Everyone loved their meals. There was a long wait, but it was well worth it. The service was nice (although I don't care about...
La Cuisson Cafe

It’s Friday night and we are kid free! YES! A date night! This usually happens once a week when all 4 kids are at the “ex’s”. We strongly feel that a weekly date night is a NECESSITY for any couple with or without kids. Let me remind you…we have four kids...
Tim Hortons

Tim Hortons has a lot of work to do to improve — there’s only a few things on the menu I’d eat. Ad the customer service needs a LOT of work. The drive through associates rarely get the order correctly even when they’ve confirmed the order and they try to rush at the...

Place with amazing idea (Canada's choice for sustainable coffee offering a wide selection of certified organic, shade grown, fairly traded, and Bird Friendly coffees - no conventional coffee here!), fantastic location (right by the lake). I used to go to place a lot, as its so...
The Toasted Walnut

The Toasted Walnut is a small cafe in downtown Bowmanville. There are only about nine tables so there's a great cozy atmosphere. My husband and I loved the food - everything is homemade. The prices are very reasonable and the service is terrific. The menu is pretty small. They...
Steph's Cafe

I went to this café as it is right around the corner from my house and I like to support local businesses. The only employee around was outside smoking when I walked in and he did not come inside until I was standing at the counter for almost 30 seconds. The café also had a...

Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino

I love the green tea frappe! I usually add matcha to mine just to give it that extra kick. The whip cream on the top is probably the best part. I highly recommend trying one of you haven't
Tim Hortons St. Laurent

this particular location - at the St. Laurent Mall - is so disorganized. they moved it last year from the main food court part to just outside the upstairs doors. Whomever designed both the staff area and the customer area was on something! The line up is illogical and...
