I visited blo recently thank to the Chickadvisor and Pantene blowout event they held their.

The location is at King/Portland. The staff was extremely nice and the woman who was doing my hair really took the time to give me the look I wanted and walked me through it the entire step of the way to make sure it was turning out how I wanted . She took the time to style my hair for the look I was trying to achieve and did not hurt me during the styling process.

The ambiance there is great, very friendly, inviting and very intimate. The decor is chic.

I was able to get my hair done from the Blo Bar thanks to chickadvisor (and Pantene)! I straighten my hair everyday and now I want blow dries done all the time!! My hair looked so shiny and soft. I am going again in a couple of weeks and taking my girlfriends :)

I was invited by Chick advisor & Pantene for the Blow out event!.
I didn't actually pay for the blow out but i think regular price is around 35$. To me it's a little on the expensive side.

Of course the day i went was special ..lots of people around so i was a little scared that she would just hurry and try to be done as soon as possible.

What a great experience. The girl that did my hair ( i believe her name is Gisele) was so nice! And she really took her time to do my hair. They were looking exactly how i would expect them to look. Curly and shiny and with just enough volume.

The place itself is tiny but there was a great atmosphere and everyone was welcoming.

I would definately go back if i had somewhere important to go too..

For a regular blow out? just a little too expensive for me

I literally just came back from my appointment at the Blo Bar in Toronto (The King West location, in the PATH) and I wanted to let you all know how happy I was with my experience. A girl named Areti did my hair and she was so sweet and attentive. It was SUPER busy in there (it's lunch time in a busy office building, and it's Friday AND it's the Christmas season) so there were women coming in and out the whole time, and people in every chair. She could have rushed my appointment and hurried me out (indeed a girl who was clearly her next appointment came while my hair was still only about half done. I know this because she asked another stylist if she could wash her hair for her...) but I didn't feel rushed at all! She took her time and did an excellent job. My hair is pretty long and thick so it took a little bit longer than what I assume your average appointment would take so I appreciate her not rushing me.

I won't say that this place is relaxing because it's quite loud and busy, but I think people in the downtown core are generally going for fast and efficient service rather than a spa-like atmosphere so this place gets a thumbs up from me in terms of atmosphere. It's all pink and white and cute on the inside and they handed me some gossip magazines while I got my hair done. I don't LOVE the scent of one of the many products she used in my hair but that's a very minor complaint.

Overall she was attentive (asking me throughout about the temperature of the water she used to wash my hair, the temperature of the blow dryer, the pressure she used to brush my hair, if it was ok to use hair spray ... etc.) and did a great job. I am very happy with the results. A regular wash and blow out costs 35 bucks, and with tax and tip I paid a little less than $50 for everything. Money well spent in my opinion and I will definitely be going back.

**Interesting note, Areti mentioned that if you get your hair done there Monday to Thursday you can get a FREE touch-up on Friday in time for the weekend which I think is fabulous. Also they do your hair on Saturday too but by appointment only.**

I decided to go to Blo before my company Christmas party, and I had an interesting experience.

The inside of the salon is really cute, and smells great. It has a nice vibe to it, although the receptionist was a bit snobby towards my friend and I when we booked our appointments.

It was really busy the day that I went in because there were a lot of Christmas parties going on in the area. We decided to head to the salon early, and it's a good thing we did.

When you book here, it doesn't seem like you book with a specific person. The girl who did my hair rushed me (I know it's a quick-service place, but come on...) and it was obvious that she just wanted to go home. She was rough when washing my hair and burned my ear with a hairdryer when drying me. I asked for the "Holly Would" style because I have a lot of thick hair, and I thought it would suit that style well. What I ended up with was NOTHING like the picture in their menu. I was really unhappy with it, actually. It was teetering on the edge between bad 80s prom and 6 year old dance recital.

Like I said before, the girl who did it clearly just wanted to get home. After she "finished" me, she threw on her coat and ran out.

As I watched my friend get her hair done by a much nicer stylist, I decided that I would ask her to fix me up a bit. I was told that my curls would fall a bit in a couple hours, but I didn't have time to wait and see how it would turn out. We were supposed to head out right away!

After explaining that I wasn't happy, the second stylist was sympathetic to my unhappiness. She agreed that the curls were not done properly and promptly fixed them for me. She was really nice, made conversation and did not rush me at all even though she wasn't scheduled to do another person right away. I tipped her instead of the first stylist.

Overall, it's a cute concept but it seems as though your experience will vary greatly depending on who you get as your stylist. I wish it was possible to book with specific people!
