went today for a colour and got exactly what i didn't want, stripy foils, instead of bold balayage... this after even doing a consultation a week before as recommended, which was forgotten, or rather, the stylist said several times during the process when I repeatedly said what I had really wanted, she knew better.
now I am up in the middle of the night, losing sleep, pissed off, and wondering what to do next. go back and have an awkward conversation about maybe getting it right, or drop another $150 elsewhere...
otherwise the whole thing was pleasant, but only because i was trying to convince myself that i'd come to like it after all and maybe she was right, and I didn't want to make a fuss. now I just want what I want, and really have always hated the stripy foils look and have never wanted that.
Cute place and hair cuts are a decent price - but that's about it!
Went in there just to get blonde roots done - which ended up taking over 4 hours (there goes my day) and costing me almost $200! Places in Yorkville don't even charge this much for color! Usually you can find this service for $100 bucks and unless you're a learning student at the Aveda Academy, has never taken more than 2 hours! When asked about it, I found you pay for their TIME not the SERVICE (who knew their time was so precious because the service/results were mediocre at best)
The results: Ashy grey toned roots (awesome when my hair is light blonde) - so had to buy a clarifying shampoo to try and fix this expensive mess. When asked if I liked the color, I was only offered a conditioning treatment? How about fixing the color or giving a discount on this poorly done job?
I have been to a TON of Toronto Salon's over the years & honestly, you could not get me to ever go back here or recommend it to anyone. My advice is keep looking, because there's much better out there!
I'd been living in Toronto for almost two years and had only had terrible, overpriced haircuts when a friend recommended The Cabinet Salon. As soon as I walked in the door, I knew I'd finally found a great place. It is a small salon with a very warm and friendly atmosphere. My stylist, Alex, was great! I left happy, with a cut I could show off and enough money to still go out for dinner.
Emma Rose is excellent with curly hair! She listens, makes great suggestions and gives a fantastic cut.
