This primer looked a bit intimidating at first because the product is green and purple. If you didn’t already know, green primers will help neutralize red tones on your skin and purple combats yellow undertones to brighten.
Dispensing the product releases both colours from the pump. You only need a little bit to work into your skin. I found that it was smooth and quite hydrating and worked well at hiding any red areas on my skin. I had no issues on the drier areas of my face, however, in areas that I normally get oily, it seemed a little too greasy.
As a primer, I expected this to be light, but it ended up feeling heavy on my face, not to mention it had an unappealing smell (like something rotting). It made for a nice base to apply makeup over, but it did not provide any extra wearing time for foundation like it boasts.
So overall, if you don’t mind a strong unpleasant odor when applying and have the skin type this is actually meant for (dry, red with yellow undertone), this could be a good product for you to try out. If you don’t fall into the above category, I would skip this all together.
This primer is a miss for me. I used a coupon and got it for a cheaper price. It is expensive for the drug store. This claims it color corrects but I still have redness on my face. It makes my skin feel oily. It also does nothing if you have larger pores. This foundation is nothing special.
I found that this product did not make my skin look better. I actually found it to leave my normal/combination skin looking oily. I did not think this product worked well to remove redness, or to smooth the appearance of my skin; two things it says it will do. I love the packaging, it's so pretty - but that's where the positives of this product end for me. I would not suggest this product for anyone who has anything but dry skin. And I would only suggest it if you were wearing it under makeup. It seems to make a good hold. I'll stick with my Sephora Primer for the price of the Almay one.
so, I have been on a primer kick lately because the texture of my skin seems to be changing as I age... and so it seems I have placed all my faith in products, enough that I could open my own beauty dept, that I keep trying and trying...
so far this one seems to not be bad, the blend of green and purple concealer does a nice job of hiding red spots and covering dark circles and any sallow shades...
goes on smooth, not too greasy, does not cause make up to ball and covers well.. doesn't take half a gallon to cover and hide the way some others do...
if you are seeing some changes in your skin and looking to blend out imperfections I say give this one a try.
