I absolutely love the taste of Coconut Dream. Cows milk upsets my stomach sometimes and so having an alternative that tastes even better than cows milk is awesome! I wish that it would go on sale more often or even come in a bigger package. We're all big dairy and non-dairy drinkers in this family. The taste though is really good.
I got a coupon for a free product from Chick Advisor.
I never normally drink milk substitutes until I recently started following the Paelo diet do to health concerns. The Paleo diet does not allow dairy and my specific health issues prohibited me from even having almonds or legumes/nuts, so I needed a substitute that would work with my diet that actually tasted good.
I tried the Coconut dream, and was very pleasantly surprised. The aftertaste wasn't overpowering, nor was it too sweet. It was creamy and smooth like a milk product which helped my transition.
Drinking by itself was great and I've added it in a few recipes like smoothies and other holiday baking.
I also received two really cute tea towels from Simons and a Cake Tested, which I have already used all three!
This is delicious ice cold by itself or with protein powder/chocolate in it, and it heats nicely for hot beverages. I like this frothed with sweetened chai for a winter treat. A little coconut-y without overpowering the flavor of anything you choose to stir in. Makes great oatmeal! This is not watery like coconut water, so keep that in mind.
I go through a case of this coconut milk per month, for one person! I use it in lattes, cereal, and recipes. This coconut milk is thick and rich like whole cow milk, and it has as much calcium as cow's milk. It has MORE vitamin D and B-12, and fewer calories and fat grams, than whole milk
When compared with rice milk, soy milk, and almond milk, I personally think this comes the closest to real milk. I have developed a distaste for the vanilla and sweetened milks. This still has a good flavor for drinking straight, even without the added flavor and sugar. The coconut taste is very mild.
My son loves this!!! He usually likes the almond milk and also the cashew milk. He tried this as well and really liked it. I will be purchasing this again for him.
There are some dairy/lactose issues in our house, so we went on a hunt for a substitute for cow's milk. This one is the WINNER. Not watery thin. Has a good consistency, close to that of whole milk. It cooks well in ALL my baking recipes: corn muffins, brownies, biscuits, cakes, cookies, frostings/icings. It cooks well in my mashed potatoes and in other recipes that call for milk! I couldn't believe it! I don't taste the coconut in the recipes. OH, I also use it for popcorn making, in a saucepan, on the stove top.
I've been making the rounds of taste testing all the coconut milk substitutes on the market in the past 2 months. I honestly like this one the best...it's a bit creamier and slightly more sweet. It makes a satisfying cup.
I have also experimented with cooking with various brands, and I like how Coconut Dream results in a thicker texture for soups, smoothies, puddings, toppings, sauces, pancakes/waffles.
This is not only the most delicious coconut drink on the market but also the most delicious and addictive of any milk alternative. The "original" flavour is just the right level of sweetness -- and it is far tastier than the "unsweetened" and "vanilla" options. This product is a treat to have in cereal or to drink on its own.
Let me start off by saying I received this product for free by the Chick Advisor product review club but in NO way does it influence my opinions.
I'm a vegan so trying this was right up my alley. I found this to be amazing in my morning coffee and also in baking goods! (Cakes, cookies, and smoothies) so much healthier then alternatives with plenty of health be benefits! I cannot believe I've never tried this product before!
If you are vegan or looking for a milk substitute I highly recommend you trying the Coconut variety it's so yummy and nutritious!
