I have a Lab. He's amazing. He's our Love. But, there were times when I was overwhelmed by the shedding. You could vacuum/sweep 24hrs/day and you could not keep up. We tried all the brushes and originally balked at the price. After borrowing a family members', we were Sold! The Furminator was a Hero! It did not 'cure' his daily shedding but the amount of time we spent cleaning up his fur was significantly decreased.

I have had and used a Furminator since they were first released. It works wonders on both dogs and cats - my dogs have shorter hair, but shed a ton. Running this through their coats a couple of times a week (our quality petting time) reduces the shedding like woah, and makes it so that I don't have to vaccum daily.

WIth my cats, the two current both have incredibly long fur and get hairballs. One loves the Furminator and will actually ask to be brushed, and the other begrudgingly lets me brush her as long as I give her a treat afterwards.

It doesn't catch on skin which I've noticed other brushes do, and it holds on to the fur until YOU pull it off - no random tufts flying around as you're brushing. Washes easily and stores well. Kind of spendy since I bought it when it first came out, but given how long it's lasted and how well it works, it's worth every penny I spent.

Dog or cat, the Furminator promises to rid your pet of the excess undercoat of fur - especially in shedding seasons. It’s a simple tool with strong construction, great grip, and an ejection button which pushes fur out of the comb. It comes with a comb guard: when your teeth wear out you have to buy a whole new implement because the company does not offer replacement combs blades. This is definitely a negative. The comb-guard doesn’t fit very well on the comb.

It’s easy to hold, easy to pull along the coat though it doesn’t go through as easily as a brush … and instantly the fur is flying. You aren’t meant to press hard, and must be careful if your pet has lesions, bumps, nipple area etc. I get quite a lot of fur after a few strokes – and a lot of it IS the undercoat. It’s on me, the nearby couch, the carpet. I’m definitely going to try this outside: the fur sits on the cat or floats around. It’s hard to contain the mess. There is no way they will sit still for 10 minutes (suggested duration) of brushing! My cats don’t enjoy this as much as being brushed, and it does create a big mess, but it’s extremely effective.

Be careful to choose the right size/ fur length version. I suggested this to a dog owner ... and she called to thank me the next day.

Please note that the price I listed is an online sale price - they are often significantly more expensive than this. Watch for sales online and in the stores and you can likely score a deal like what I paid
