87% OF CHICKS DIG IT
I was one of the lucky Chicks to receive the GOSH Goddess product review package!! I don't normally use face powders but I really liked this one! It was light and I didn't feel like it was "caked" on like others have made me feel...I don't wear a lot of makeup so this was perfect for me.
The mineral powder had great coverage on my face and long lasting effect. It didn't feel heavy or too powdery and had a nice gentle scent. I would definitely buy this product.
Upon opening the sample I received as part of the Chick Advisor review club, I had powder all over my hands! Not a good sign. BUT it gave me an opportunity to play with the product. The first go around, I applied the powder with my hands. The texture is very creamy and easy to blend however, it went on quite patchy. I tried again the next day and this time, used a mineral powder brush to apply. It went on much smoother and was more medium to full coverage. As the day wore on, I noticed that it started to get a bit cakey and did not stay smooth. I was a bit disappointed and was really gunning for this to be the next addition to my make-up arsenal.
The shade chosen is exactly what I hoped it would be. The powder blends smooth and soft across your skin when applied with a proper cosmetic brush. I liked that it didn't look matte or not smooth. It was very polished on my skin. It is as good as other brands I have used, but slightly better than Covergirl or Maybelline. I would definitely purchase this powder again and will if available. I recommend it too!
Just to start us off, I will say that I am loyal as heck to my Smashbox Halo powder. I was hoping this would be a similar formula/similar coverage as that. I wouldn't necessarily use it as a total dupe in place of the Halo powder, but it will do in a pinch.
First, the packaging is a pain in the rear. It took me a bit to figure out how in the hell I was to access this powder. After some struggling, I got it. And boy, did I make a mess. Good thing I wasn't wearing my black work shirt, or I would have been panicking, covered in this stuff.
I thought it looked great when I applied it with my kabuki brush. The lighting wasn't so great, as it was first thing in the am and I was on my way to work, so yeah at the time it looked ok at a quick glance.
I got to work and peeked in a mirror in a better lit area. YIKES. I don't go heavy handed with my powders. I'm a pasty gal, and I don't want to look unnatural. It started to look kinda cakey. I actually had to take some tissue and blot some off.
As the day went on, it didn't stand up super well. I don't have a physical job, I sit on my behind, if you must know, and it looked even cakier (if that is even a word). I can't imagine girls who like to go dancing (not me!) would have good things to say about this stuff. Then again, clubs are dark, so hey maybe they could get away with it.
Sorry guys, your other products are wonderful, but this one is a dud.
Thank you kindly ChickAdvisor's Product Review Club for sending the GOSH Mineral Powder in 004 to try. I love the compact – easy to carry and allows you to control how much product you can dispense with the twist cap. This product is better than I expected! I like how the formula is pigmented, silky and smooth like corn starch and the product provides medium/heavy coverage but feels very light on my face. I found the product easy to dust onto my skin and blend out with a natural finished look. BUT a word of caution one must apply the foundation with a light hand because I find it easy to apply way too much and look cakey. I LOVE how the formula keeps my greasy/oil skin matte throughout the day but oily spots (that is my t-zone) does peek out about mid-day. So far no breakouts from using this foundation, which is fantastic news for me acne-prone skin! I really like this product – I will have to keep my eyes peeled for this product when I’m running low on my current products. I currently bounce between two foundations the Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals and Physicians Formula Mineral Wear powder which provides a sheerer coverage compared to GOSH’s formula. I would recommend people to check-out this foundation if they like extra coverage.
Out if the 4 products I received for review this was my favourite.
It was really nice to apply and the feeling on your skin is air.
Great product in my opinion!
Note: I received this product complimentary for review purposes
I am always searching for new powders, as I often find them to be cakey and difficult to blend or too light without enough coverage.
GOSH Mineral Powder (004) gives a great, natural look without being cakey, but still giving enough coverage. I love that its a mineral powder and the packaging makes it easy to avoid spills.
I would definitely purchase this product in the future, and I will recommend it to anyone looking a great, natural looking mineral powder.
I do like this powder, but I'm not IN love with it. I currently use Physicians Formula Mineral Wear and I feel like GOSH's Mineral Powder doesn't provide great, long-lasting coverage like my current brand does. It feels a bit heavier and I find that it doesn't blend as well. I don't think that I would buy this or refer to my friends as there are better products on the market.
