A must try
Love this sauce. Love the spice level. Goes really well as a marinade or dip. Can't wait to try it with momo or samosa and my other favorite snacks. I definitely recommend to try it if you haven't so far.

Packs with lots of heat
I recently tried their Ammas Sambal sauce. It is a Malaysian chili paste with a thick consistency. This is not the version of smabal with the shrimp paste. This is perfect for me since I can’t have shellfish. The sauce hits you with a bright tomato tang then the heat kicks in from Thai chili and ginger. They aren’t kidding when the bottle says 8/10 heat. I personally would add a pinch more salt to round it out. The sauce is good for marinades and in stir-fry or even as a soup base. I used it to make some airfry Sambal chicken and it was delicious! If you like heat, highly recommend it.

A Flavor Bomb with Heart
This sambal isn’t just a condiment—it’s a love letter to family and tradition. Crafted as a dedication to the creator’s mother, Siva, it’s an evolving recipe that’s been perfected over years, capturing the essence of Malaysian home cooking . Unlike traditional sambal belacan this version skips the shrimp paste, making it 100% vegan and gluten-free while still delivering layers of umami and spice .
Amma’s Malaysian Sambal is a pantry essential for anyone craving authentic Southeast Asian flavors with a modern, inclusive twist. Whether you’re a heat seeker or a flavor chaser, this sauce delivers on both fronts—with heartwarming backstory to boot.
Try it with coconut rice or as a glaze for grilled pineapple!

Hot and spicy but loaded with flavour too
We marinated some chicken thighs with this sambal and threw them on the BBQ the flavour was unreal. Smoky a little sweet from the mango and just the right amount of heat when cooked. Paired it with fried rice and it was a full on win.
Then we tried it straight from the jar… and yeah it kicked us in the face a bit 😂 It’s definitely spicy. But not the kind that burns your soul you still get that lemongrass garlic and ginger shining through.
Texture’s chunky, thick, and super fresh nothing like those watery store-bought sambals. Made in Toronto from a family recipe and it actually tastes homemade.
Appreciate @lost.in.the.sauce.to for this one. We’ll be using it again maybe just not by the spoonful next time.

The perfect addition to my flavor palette
I didn’t know what I was expecting when I unlocked the cover of that jar but from the first taste taste, I knew this was something I’ll spend my money on again.
It’s great as a dip, marinade and the heat level is perfect for a Nigerian like me.

Best Sambal
The Sambal was delicious!
I love that it’s a Canadian made product from Toronto, and that it’s made with all-natural ingredients. (I wish they had used olive oil instead of canola).
It has the perfect blend of flavours with a nice hint of heat from the chilies.
The consistency is perfect. It’s not too thick, nor too runny.

Best sambal sauce!
Huge thanks to @litssauce and @thisisbutterly for sending me this jar of goodness in exchange for my honest review!
This Ammas Sambal Sauce is definitely a staple in my fridge now and I will be lost without it. Made in Ontario 🇨🇦 and packed with bold herbs and spices, this sambal sauce instantly brings back a lot of fond memories when I used to live in Penang 🇲🇾 many years ago.
I am very impressed with how flavourful and fragrant the sauce is. Not only that, it is also has thick consistency, unlike some other brands that are very runny.
In this reel, I am making ‘Eggplant and Shrimp Sambal’, adding only a few ingredients such as chopped onion & garlic, kaffir lime leaves, and sweet soy sauce (aka kecap manis).
So grab a bowl of rice and mari makan!

Love it
I was so happy to find a vegan and gluten free Sambal to fit my dietary needs. It’s the perfect amount of heat and goes well with everything. I made Sambal cauliflower and dip with it.
