Thank you Chic Advisor for sending me Maybelline’s “The Falsies” mascara to review. Here is a summary of my experience using this product.

I know most people don’t consider the color of a packaging too much, but I personally loved it. I always carry an oversized purse and my makeup products tend to get lost inside so I found that the purple made it easier for me to locate my mascara.

I have to admit, this mascara was a little bit on the runny side that I had wished, I always had to try to remove part of the product from the brush before applying it, otherwise it resulted in clumping. I have to agree with previous reviews that in terms of smudging, the mascara was pretty good and once dry it lasted the whole day without problems. The shape of the brush was both good and bad – good because it was curved and I was able to reach all of my lashes but then again it was hard to avoid clumping unless I tried rotating the brush and applying it from different angles, which I have to admit was a hard at first but with practice it got to be better.

The mascara did magic extending the length of my lashes but did nothing for volume, unless I applied at least three coats, then it was ok. If I just left it with one coat it was ok for a minimal make-up office look but for out-on-the-town look it was definitely not enough. I actually started combining the mascara with a little mini-brush (which I use to comb my lashes) to prevent clumping. The effect was great but it is time consuming when you are trying to get ready in less than 10 min, I found that I didn’t have the time to do this routine every time I applied makeup.

Overall, I find the product average, I have used mascaras that do better job with less hassles so I would say if you are looking to extend the length of your lashes, this works great but if it is more volume and easy application you are looking for – then this product is not for you.

I would like to begin by thanking ChickAdvisor for letting me review The Falsies mascara. Many people would love this mascara and many would not. If you like the formula of your mascara to be wetter in consistency than normal, then this is your mascara. It applies almost wet and takes a minute to dry allowing you to pack on layers without clumping for your desired effect. I wouldn't pick this up if you prefer a drier consistency. Where this mascara fell short was its promise to appear as if wearing false lashes. Although I haven't tried false lashes myself, my friends and sisters have confirmed my suspicion that The Falsies does not volumize my lashes enough to justify the false lash effect claim. However, it does the job of a regular mascara, and it does it well. As for the shape of the bristle brush which is spoon-like, I felt that it was definitely one of the better factors of the mascara. The shape allows the brush to grab almost all of my lashes and coat them evenly simultaneously. And, you can use the other side to apply extra coats as well and with this side you can target your application to specific areas.

So, in conclusion, I will recommend The Falsies if:
    1. You prefer a wetter mascara formula consistency
    2. You prefer a bristle brush for application
    3. You would like to try out a spoon-like brush which for me has improved application
    4. You like the colour purple ;)

Thank you to Chick Advisor for sending me this product to review! I'm always on the lookout for a new mascara to try, I just love them. Since I love the look of false lashes, but feel that they can be uncomfortable, I thought that Maybelline's "The Falsies" Mascara could be the answer.

Well, not exactly. There are some good things and some bad things about this mascara, overall it is an OK product.

1.) First of all, the purple and light blue packaging is super-cute!

2.) I LOVE how it is very very black. I always buy mascara in the blackest colour that they offer, but this was definitely darker than all my other mascaras.

3.) I don't like the brush very much at all. I find that it is big and hard to work with. Also, I feel like it clumps my lashes together. I feel like this mascara has a good formula, but the problem is the brush. When I applied it my lashes would clump together and no matter how I moved around the brush I couldn't find a way to apply it so they wouldn't do this. Which is a shame, because I feel like the volumizing ability of this mascara would be great if they had paired it with a different brush.

So, what I do to solve this problem:

I apply a pretty thick coat of The Falsies, and while it is still wet I comb it through with the brush from my other mascara (Lash Blast Length works well). I find that this way, I can get the benefits from The Falsies formula, with great separation from the other brush.

When applied this way, The Falsies adds volume. length and great dark-black colour. So if you are willing to take the time to use a separate brush, I recommend this mascara to you. But otherwise, I would not recommend it.

I am always on the look out for a great mascara, and as a matter of fact, my makeup bag is full of them! When I saw the advertisement for Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express Mascara, I was excited to try it. I was even more excited when I was chosen to sample this product from Chick Advisor.

Well, overall the mascara isn’t bad – if you take the steps to ensure proper coverage. My first few times using it – honestly I didn’t really care for it at all. I found it time consuming, clumpy, and hard to apply. But I continued using it, and the more I did the more I liked it. Also, the mascara didn’t not flake or smudge – which is a bonus.

The packaging is great – and the spoon shaped bristle brush is unique. It does actually grab onto the lashes and provides good coverage and some lift. I didn’t like the fact that the stem/arm of the brush had a little bend in the middle, which I found annoying. There was no resistance allowing you to pull the lashes up because the stem would move as well.

I found that the mascara is very wet. I had to scrape a lot off of the brush before applying. I found that if you applied right out of the tube, it clumped my lashes because there is too much product on the brush.

I did find however, that one coat is not enough. A single coat will provide you only with a very natural look – which is great because you could use this mascara with your usual daytime makeup. I had to apply about 2-3 coats, allowing the mascara to dry somewhat in between coats to get the look I was hoping to achieve. Quite time consuming, but worth it if you have the extra time. To get an even longer looking, fuller lashes, I would recommend using an eyelash curler before applying the mascara to give you a more wide eyed look. Still the end result did not leave me with “falsie” lashes, but it did improve the volume and length.

Overall – not a bad product. If the formula wasn’t so wet – I believe it would apply better.

Would I buy it again or recommend? Sure, if the price is right, but I wouldn’t recommend if you want dramatic results – it is a good volumizing mascara but you don’t get the same look that you would from false lashes.

I'd just like to say thank you to Chick Advisor for sending me this product.

Hmm... Where to start? There's some good things and some bad things about this mascara, they kind of balance out to a bit below average. I'm very particular about my mascaras. I'm not a "brand whore" I just use whatever works. I won't lie, I'll finish this tube of "the falsies" its not /so/ bad that I'd toss it into the bin, but I will not repurchase it.

    1. The packaging (purple and ... teal?) is super cute. I think the name is stupid, but Maybelline did a good job making the effect of the mascara the name, hence... helping with marketing I'm guessing? I don't know.

    2. Anyway, the formula of this product is... I'd say normal. It's a little runnier than I like. I tend to prefer mascaras when they're in between new and dried up. The less liquidy they are, the easier I find them to use. It says I received "very black" but its honestly more of a charcoal colour. I compared it with my other mascaras.

    3. The brush on this thing is ridiculous--not in a good way. First off... The curved brush does nothing, I promise you. You hear the advertisement, then you use the mascara and you either believe or don't believe. The reason I don't think curved brushes are a good idea? You can't just put a mascara through your lashes at the same spot and cover them all equally. Not your baby lashes, not the outer ones, and you certainly can't build thickness.

    4. On a better note, as far as standing up to 'wear and tear' I made this mascara PROVE itself. I was working a local event selling ice cream right after I recieved it. It was cloudy, it was sunny, it was hot, it was windy, it was raining... It was everything. I got well over 10 hours of wear both days without any flaking and minor/normal smudging (I'm sure it just comes from occasionally rubbing my eyes or whatever).

I found that the brush was super hard to use... I don't like the ones that aren't silicone, that's just my personal preference BUT this product was a double whammy. It has that stupid... flexible part on the stem. It made me make a big mess of myself almost every time I used it. If I took the time to be careful enough not to get mascara everywhere I ended up with spidery lashes.

I know I didn't like the product, but I wanted to say thanks again to Maybelline and Chick Advisor. I look forward to reviewing for you again. It's just my two cents. =D

Thank you Chickadvisor.com for sending me a tube of Maybelline New York The Falsies Volum' Express Mascara to review and coupons to share with friends, family, co-workers.

The highly pigmented, and rich pro-keratin fibre formula significantly lengthened my lashes and provide noticeable volume. In my opinion, this mascara adds more length than volume. I have yet to find any other mascara that lengthens as well as The Falsies, but I have had achieved better volume with Maybelline’s XXL Pro Volume Mascara.

My next amazement was the technology behind the brush. The curved brush was able to grab every single eyelash (yes, including the baby lashes) and fan out my lashes. Finally, I’m very happy that the product is long-wearing; I did not experience any flaking, smudging or clumping. In other words, this mascara has lasted through intensive physical activity (i.e. running), heat, and humidity.

Despite applying several coats of the product on I wasn't able to achieve the 'false lashes look' or anything close with this mascara. However, the product was not a total disappointment for me. I intend on purchasing this mascara in the future and I have already recommended this product to several friends. This is my favorite mascara on the market that I have stumbled upon.

Thank you to the Product Review club for sending me this mascara for review!

I was very excited when this mascara first came on the market, since I love wearing false lashes for their fullness effect on nights out, however this mascara did disappoint a tad. For me, this mascara was just about average on every category (i.e price, packaging, effect). It did have a lengthening effect, but it did not give my lashes the desired volumizing effect. I found it to separate my lashes too much, but no fullness was added. So, I would have to say that the mascara does not do what it promises ( which is to give the illusion of false eye lashes).

The scent was not strong, which I liked. The 'wand' was easy to hold/use, and the brush did not feel too clumpy/ its bristles were pretty soft.

This mascara does not however compare to the mascara I generally use, and I would probably not purchase it again, but I would love to try a mascara that actually has the 'false eyelash' effect if they ever manage to make one someday.

I too was able to review this through the Product Review club so here are the results:

    1. How did you like this product on its own merits? (eg. ease of use, wear, etc)
First of all, I have to tell you that I love mascara I cannot go a day without and absolutely love the look of dark, full lashes. Having said that, the first thing I noticed about this product is that it clumps even after a single coat and good luck trying to get those clumps out. I was pretty disappointed considering I haven't had clumps in years! Second, I use a Shu eyelash curler to get some serious curl in my lashes but I was surprised to see my lashes completely weighed down and pretty skimpy looking by the end of the day.

    2. How does this mascara compare to wearing false eyelashes?
No contest. If you like the look of false lashes, I wouldn't recommend this as a substitute.

    3. How does this mascara compare to your usual volumizing mascara?
As I mentioned, I have rarely experienced clumps but this mascara really brought on the clumps and on top of that made my lashes look pretty lack lustre by the end of the day so again, I'm going to stick with what I have.

    4. Would you buy this product again and/or recommend it to a friend?
I wanted to love it, but probably not.

I got the chance to try Falsies through the Product Review club and I thought I'd copy and paste the questions from the email so I don't miss anything:

    1. How did you like this product on its own merits? (eg. ease of use, wear, etc)
Out of all the bristle brushes I've ever used, this was my favourite. It's flat on two sides, which gives you options when applying. However, I found the consistency of the mascara to be a bit watery. It's like it wasn't strong enough to hold my eyelashes in place. Even after some major curling with an eyelash curler, the weight of the formula paired with its wateriness just weighed down my lashes and made them nearly invisible. I have very short, straight lashes by nature and I've always had a hard time finding a mascara that gave them a wow factor, and this definitely isn't one of them. I think that with time as the mascara dries out a bit it might be more effective. Also, I've always found the waterproof versions to be better for holding curl as they're usually a little thicker and tackier in consistency. Maybe I'll look for the waterproof Falsies next time I'm out.

    2. How does this mascara compare to wearing false eyelashes?
I love the look of false lashes, but I've never been able to apply them properly so by default my vote falls with the mascara.

    3. How does this mascara compare to your usual volumizing mascara?
I found that I was thoroughly unimpressed with how short and stubby they ended up looking. I've been using Cover Girl's Lash Blast for about a year now, and this didn't even come close. After using the plastic brush that comes with Cover Girl's mascaras, I find it very hard to go back to a bristle brush, even if it is the best one I've come across. Also, the consistency of this mascara didn't work with my fine lashes. It was too watery and heavy to plump them up.

    4. Would you buy this product again and/or recommend it to a friend?
    No, I don't think so.

I LOVE this mascara! It gave my lashes instant volume and length. I look for mascaras that provide thick, full, voluminous lashes and this product certainly met my expectations. I love how full my lashes looked with only one sweep of the wand.

The mascara brush is termed a “spoon brush” which means that it is curved. This allowed the mascara to be easily applied to all lashes including the hard to reach lashes. The wand is flexible and although my personal preference is to have a stiff brush, I was able to easily apply the mascara without difficulty. I did notice that the mascara was slightly clumpy but no more so than any other mascara I have tried. I still found the mascara effective despite the slight clumpiness.

The mascara lasted all day and looked just as good at the end of the day as it did in the beginning. I experienced no flaking of the product throughout the day. The mascara is washable and I could easily remove it with soap and water. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product to others and I would purchase it in the future. In fact, it has quickly become my new favorite mascara.
