This dryer takes 2 AA batteries (not included) and you turn it on by simply pressing the large button on the bottom interior of the dryer with the hand you are drying.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much air was generated by the small fan in this dryer. This dried my nails in less than a minute and I could even dry my toenails which is really useful. Great nail dryer!
