This magnifying reading light is the perfect solution to my mother in law stealing my father in laws glasses to read the morning paper, and to allow him (78 years old) to read normal sized print books clearly!

The plastic is not as durable as I feel it should be based on the types of people it is geared towards (bad vision, seniors, people who work on small intricate projects or hobbies). So I would recommend be careful not to drop it onto ceramic tile or hard floors.

Despite the casing, the handle is easy to grip, and definitely helps focus on intricate and small details or writing without the need to squint.

Having the LED lights on the back of the unit assist with making the pages or task at hand easier to see, again, relieving eye strain without the use of glasses. They are not blinding bright if you accidentally turn on the unit with the lights facing towards your eye (I accidentally tested this out for you!).

This magnifier runs off of batteries (the little AA batteries), which are NOT included with the magnifier. Once easily installed in the back of the handle, the large on/off switch turns the LED lights on and off as required. You are also able to choose a lower or brighter light level depending on where you are and your preferences.

This can be used for more than reading though – checking dogs for ticks after a camping trip, looking for lost items underneath the bed, stamp collecting, working on your computer interior, and more.

I have seen how it has improved my in laws enjoyment of reading with the flick of a switch (literally!), and they would recommend it!

*** I received this item at a reduced or no cost for my fair and fabulous review ***
