Definitely NOT the 'real thing'

This is a poor representation of 'authentic' butter chicken sauce, even if you're looking for a 'westernized' version where all you need to do is essentially add chicken. Honestly, you're better off looking up a recipe (and there are many out there) and adjusting it to your own taste. Butter chicken (and many indian dishes) are unique to each family and person who creates them. No two sauces are the same, but there are definitely commonalities.
