It creates a volumeshield to help protect the hair. It helps repair smoothness for silky hair, protect damaged hair from breakage. It has flexible hold to seal in and tame flyaways. The directions for using the product say to spray 6-8 inches from dry hair for a salon like finish, being careful not to apply directly to the roots. Spray into towel dried hair to prep for easy styling. When the directions are followed the hair has a bit of wave to it. The product is scented even if you smell your hair after spraying it. It is one extra step to the haircare routine, however the results are worth it. It is a nice product to use.
