Cafes Reviews

A café requires just one thing to win our hearts: truly decadent coffee.  We've come across our fair share of snooty décor, name-dropping baristas, and lack of seating space, but all is forgiven when we're handed our immaculately brewed Americano or Soy Chai Latte - whichever's your preference.  The search for the next must-stop java joint is an urbanista's favourite pastime... and when we can find one that also serves a great lunch, well you had us at Bonjour!

In Toronto, we're partial to The Sandwich Box, Le Gourmand, and Sense Appeal Coffee Roasters.  Which is your favourite?

Zucker's Bagels & Smoked Fish

1 review

On a recent trip to New York my friends and I ate at this place for breakfast several times. The bagels are fresh, huge and delicious and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The place has a lot of charm and I was interested to see that it's a Zagat rated restaurant as...

This was a great place to eat at. Went there for a birthday party. The service was amazing, very friendly staff and the food was on the table very fast. The restaurant is very spacious and lots of places for seats.

Caribou Coffee is offering a brand new spread on the drink options, Steering away from the generic offerings of coke and diet coke. They have a new glass bottle option of a ginger ale that is pomegranate flavored. Nice and perfect size with just the right amount of fizz to go...
Royers Round Top Cafe

1 review

When I plan a big holiday dinner and do a lot of cooking, I sometimes make my life slightly easier by ordering an appetizing dessert. It's more expensive than if I make it myself, true, but everything is paid for in either time or money. And the bustling holidays are the...
Blenz Coffee

1 review

The first time I went to blenz I had a hot chocolate. It was the best hot chocolate I have ever had. They use real chocolates. The barista told me it can be ordered cold as well. They have non dairy options. It's a quiet place.

This is a great place to grab a quick bite when you're in Yorkville. They have a good selection of sandwhiches and salads - rare roast beef with sweet peppers, grilled chicken and brie, Lobster & Crab salad, seared tuna salad etc at prices that range from $8 - 14. The...
Beniamino & Co Market

Beniamino & Co is a gourmet cafe/grocer combo that serves up some of the most delicious take out foods I've ever tried. There is a huge selection of gourmet salads including Strawberry blueberry fig, lobster coleslaw as well as an assortment of cold pasta salads and couscous...
The Green Bean

1 review

It turns out there is no Starbucks in downtown Greensboro, so I checked out The Green Bean recently. They have a great selection of coffees, teas, etc., plus local baked goodies (they also serve alcohol for the late night crowd). My sister swore it was the best Chai latte...
Planet Coffee

1 review

Planet Coffee is tucked away in a little corridor off York Street in the Byward Market. They serve up tasty cappuccinos and deserts. In the summer they put out a few small cafe tables and chairs where you can bask in the sun while you enjoy a beverage. Don't bother visiting...

This cozy little cafe is located in Winnipeg's French district on Provencher Blvd, close to the Forks. The cakes here are delicious and they have a nice selection of specialty coffees and sandwiches. Most of us ordered cake so I can't really vouch for the other menu items...
Lettieri Espresso Bar & Cafe

1 review

Love this place! Lettieri has several locations in Toronto. My favorite is the one near the St. Lawrence Market. The area is charming and my husband and I love to come and sit here on their teeny tiny "patio" (3 tables and two big umbrellas on front street) and sip coffees...
Timothy's World Coffee

To get away from the usual Tim Hortons I enjoy coming here. I really enjoy their beagles and chocolate covered espresso beans. They also have lots of choices to purchase and take home with you, so you can brew your own coffee or teas at home. I enjoy the atmosphere in here-...
Second Cup Coffee Shop

Although I prefer local cafes, Second Cup is my favorite nation-wide coffee shop. Second Cup has several advantages over both McCafe and Tim Hortons: - Offers non-dairy milk alternatives - Offers flavored coffee (Butter Pecan and Belgian Chocolate are my FAVORITES!) - Is...

J'aimais bien me rendre au Presse-café quand je travaillais. Le service est rapide, le café toujours frais avec plusieurs choix disponibles. Maintenant, j'y vais moins mais si l'occasion si prête, j'y retournerai avec joie.
Second Cup

I'm sorta a brewed coffee girl, so i like a good cuppa coffee and I do like Tim Horton's but Second Cup is fine too. I generally find their coffee a bit strongly brewed. they have a decent egg and cheese on an english muffin and the few wraps I've tried are OK. I won't go out...
Starbucks

Cafe Postal

This is cute little cafe is located in St. Boniface in the heart of French speaking Winnipeg. It's tiny, but the coffee is good. When I visited, patrons were speaking French, which made the experience fell that much more authentic. I do like the coffee, but the roast isn't...

I absolutely love Starbucks, considering that they are one of the few coffee shops that offer lactose free milk and dairy free options, I am able to enjoy almost any type of drink. Plus their matcha latte (lactose free) is delicious.
