Went to Magic Room Edmonton St. to get french tip gel nails done. Receptionists are rude and unprofessional. Nail tech who did them couldn't speak nor understand barely any English. Did a horrific job - Uneven, no shape, grey color, not natural looking at all, super thick, just extremely unattractive. A few hours later they were lifting and I could literally pull them off. Called to come in and get them redone. They said "there was something wrong with 'my' nails, that's why they were coming off"
Another nail tech there did them ans assured me they will not fall off. Sure enough, they came off the next day and had a fair size pocket in my thumb nail. Both nail techs who did my nails (apparently) had over 20 years experience. Called back, told them my nails are coming off yet again and was told I should speak with the manager but she will not be in until 1:00 that day. So I called shortly after 1 and was told the
manager was never in on Mondays and call back the next day when the manager will be opening.
Called back Tuesday first thing in the morning asking for the manager. Receptionist who answered asked if she can deal with the issue instead. Naturally I said no, I need to speak to the manager. She replied "oh, the manager is not in all week, call back next week". Wow, now I know something is up. I told her I cant leave my nails this way they are at risk of ripping off, collecting dirt, fungus underneath and etc. I asked if I can come in for 10:00 and she said no, how about 11:30.
Went in at 11:15 and questioned the 3 girls at front desk about the manager not being in. One girl said the manager is in but with a customer until 11:30. How ironic. I asked them who would have told me the misleading information, of course none of them knew what I was talking about. I told them I will wait for the manager.
Spoke with the manager named Dale. Explained my situation as I am not having them do my nails over again, I don't trust the quality and asked for a full refund back. She flat out said no, we do not do refunds, not for 'only 3 nails' (that were falling off and had a pocket). Hello, I have 10 nails and they should all be done properly. But no, to her it wasn't a good enough reason to get my money back. Coming back 3x within 5 days is not a good enough reason. She spoke to me with attitude, she even admitted she was arguing with me. Very, extremely unprofessional. She even said to me 'we' put in all those hours to redo your nails! Really, like I have all the time in the world to keep coming back?! . I told her I must contact Better Business Bureau and she was fine with that. I ended the conversation with that and left. Just as I was walking out the door she threw a remark "and be honest with your claim!" I was like holy crap, this place is frightening. Not once did I receive an apology from anyone from start to finish.
We are now in the middle of a Better Business Bureau dispute over this. I am wanting a full refund but most importantly I want everyone to know how awful this place is. This place screams health and safety hazard. Please do not put yourself through this. I noticed I am not the only one who feels poorly about this place, hence the reviews. I do not know how Magic Room stays in business, I really don't.
*Spread the word, and say away!!!* Thank you
This was a terrible experience!! It should be aptly named the “Tragic Room”. The aesthetician kept answering her cellphone during my facial treatment. This occurred 3 separate times in one hour. I was next door to the lunch room & I could hear the staff cackling the entire time! The aesthetician left me for over 30 minutes for my face to steam, but the machine stopped after 10 minutes & was blowing freezing cold air on my face for the remainder of the time. The aesthetician didn’t do the pore extraction that I had requested & then pressured/bullied me repeatedly to get a bazillion wax. They didn’t wash my mascara off & I walked around with raccoon eyes, which I didn’t realize until I got into my car. This was an atrocious experience!
I second pickled's review. My experience here was terrible all around. It was probably the first time in my entire life that I didn't leave a tip.
More like the Tragic room! I went for facials with four of my close friends. Everything seemed fine until we were escorted to the facial cubicles to change into those towel wrap shirt things. My very conservative friend was all but shoved into a room to change with a complete stranger! Every other spa I've been to has soothing music playing softly over the intercom, this place played the radio (commercials and all). I finally managed to relax and enjoy my facial when an employee shouted to my esthetician that she had another appointment and had better hurry up! This facial came with eyebrow threading, which would have been fine, except that the woman working on my eyebrows quickly became exasporated with me when I didn't hold my eyelid down the way she wanted me to. Overall, we felt very unrelaxed after this experience
