Got it used but it still works

I have this elliptical because my old roommates left it behind after getting it at a flea market 7 years ago and for the most part it still works. I’ve brought it with me everywhere I’ve moved.

Currently it makes a lot of squeaking noises when in use but it probably just needs to be oiled, I will admit, it spent a lot of time in one place. The front screen also no longer works as the wires seemed to have been pulled out before I got it. I don’t know why the wires would be pulled, some people are just hooligans.

I think retail was around $160 and that’s not awful for an elliptical. If I were to oil it, it would work fine and do what it’s supposed to to. The resistance gets high enough for sure and the strides are alright for me and I am 5’8” and 140lbs. When I used it consistently (like 3 years ago lol) I would use it every morning and watch two episodes of The Mindy Project. It was quiet enough to not wake my roommates and a good enough work out to make my legs hurt the left day. Remember, this elliptical is most likely 10+ years old. Can’t wait to head to Canadian Tire and get some WD40 and lose this quarantine weight.

I'm glad I bought the Cardiostyle et150 elliptical used for $20 off a guy on kijiji. I would be pretty disappointed to spend retail price (avg. $400 at max price) on this piece of junk.

I'm 5'7" and 200 lbs. The stride length is pitiful; it feels very jarring. And the machine itself, because the base is not wide to provide better stabilization, the whole machine rocks back and forth when you're using it. And you have to be careful stepping off of it, otherwise, you can easily bring the whole thing with you.

I'm in pretty bad shape and I currently have the tension at max. It provides some resistance, but it's not really enough. At my current shape, it suffices. But if I improve in any way, I'm going to have to work out longer to get a better burn, rather than just upping the tension.

The black stoppers on the ends of the base come off frequently (hence why the picture shows one missing) when you move the machine from one place to another. They don't fit snug at all.

The only thing the Cardiostyle et150 has going for it is its small footprint. But you're honestly better off spending a little more money, or looking elsewhere for a used machine, that will provide you sufficient stride length and better quality. The ideal stride length is 20"+. This one has a 14" stride length. It's crap unless you're under 5'.
