I like to use fresh herbs when cooking. One of those long winter blah days, I wanted to make pesto. Low and behold, no fresh herbs to be found at my local grocery store. While wondering the international food aisles, I came upon this Green Pesto in a tube. It was less than $1.50, so I though...why not give it a try. Boy was I glad.
The ingredients are: 50% basil, sunflower & olive oil, Parmesan cheese, cashew & pin nuts, garlic, and salt.
The flavor is just like making my own pesto. It is in a tube, so you only need to squeeze out as much as you want to use. I have been adding it to many recipes to enhance the flavor and I have used it to make just a simple pesto pasta.
Note: it only lasts 1 month after opening (but this doesn't seem to be a problem for me).
